Hello, my friends. Back in March, I sent a package to my girlfriend in the Philippines. It was a teddy bear and a card. I sent it "super fast" delivery. Well here in the USA, we know what FAST is. but I guess in the Phils, they look at things a little differently. On March 31 is when I sent it out. I told her to be looking for a package, within 2 weeks. That is what I was told, and that is what I believed. I have never sent anything out of the country before, so I guess you could say I was clueless. With that being stated, I made sure it was for no longer than 2 weeks for delivery. The people at the post office told me that it would be in the country in at least 7 days. I was excited to hear that because it would have been nice for her to receive it sooner... I payed the 15 dollars, and walked away pleased. I had the tracking number and ever other day I tracked its progress. It took 4 days to get to L.A. Then 3 days later I checked it again. Still in L.A. I thought, "what the heck?" I know I payed 15 for the quick delivery. I went to the post office here in Beaverton, and they told me that it was already overseas. That was just the last place it hit before being sent out. She told me that the USPS has no way of knowing what happened to the package after it left the shores of America. I was upset, and asked my girlfriend to check her local customs...nothing. For two months we thought it was lost... Then out of the blue, she gets a notice that a package had arrived. I was excited and upset at the same time. I have no idea why it took so long to get to her, so if anyone here knows why, that would be great to know. I plan to send more to her, but I hope that it doesnt take this long again. Is it because they just take their time in getting the mail out, or what is happening that it took that long to get a package? Help please!! Thanks.

When we were in Singapore (long time ago) we received packages from the States in a couple of weeks. Something must have happened to your package. Maybe it took the scenic route.

Yes that's true Cody because your package took into a cargo ship that's why It took so long. I know this kind of package who uses the cargo are go along with those who are scheduled to go here in my country that's why they took so long. Not all cargo ship are only delivering here they also delivered some part of the world. Well it's only your first time and try to look for some other ways you can ask your girlfriend here.

Thanks for that lyn. I think that FedEx is the best for the time and the money. Yes it was my first time sending something to her. I know that I will not do that again. It is that I am trying to send her something just in time for her birth day coming up and I sent it about 3 weeks ago...It should get there on time, and that is with the cargo ship plan...(much cheaper) But after this time, it will be FedEx... Anyway, that is great info...

You had this out via USPS? Thats odd, shouldn their work ends when your recepient actually receives the parcel? I had been buying stuff from ebay and i can get them in 2 weeks. If you send stuff via air, it would be fast but if by cargo, it would really take 2 months.

Hello, Graceekwenx. I have no idea about how they handle international mail. But here it is true. I think you are talking about the flights. I would assume, but I was told that once it is off our soil, it is no longer traceable. She was correct, because I was tracking it every other day or every third day. The very last place it tracked to was Las Angeles, California. After that, it was like it vanished. LOL Well at least now I know to send packages earlier. Thanks for the response. Have a great day Grace.

Well everything is possible with the delivery. There just might be lots of packs and they can't face up with them however that they had to deal with that whatever it happens because this is super fast. Well it is good that at you girlfriend had received your toy.

I'm sorry to hear that sad news. My relatives are also sending package for us through the post office but it also reaches us on time, about a week perhaps. I don't know where might be the problem. Perhaps before you send any package, you have to tell your girlfriend to go to the nearest post office in their place and inquire on how you can send her a package that would reach her on time. Just to prevent the same thing from happening again. You know it also depends on where she live in the Phiippines. The package might be in the country already but they can not locate the place, say its a remote place, something like that. I hope this would help.

That reminds me ARIES1973, I had sent her chocolate through an online company and they told me that her place was very remote. It was hard to find. Plus, they only gave her half of the order. And then when I sent in a complaint about it, they told me they were going to send her a box of complimentary chocolates. She received them all right, but they were out of date. I vowed to never do service through them ever again. There are many online companies that are very good. I am just happy that she has it now.

I'm really sorry to hear that mate! But unfortunately we really have a poor courier service here in the Phils. I suggest that you transact with LBC or FedEx, it's better and tested fast!

That is what she said to for next time. I am out to help her get a computer because hers is no longer working, and now we cant even use skype. But that is really good to know. I had no clue as to how the service in the Phils, is but I just with USPS extended their services out there. Next time I will use FedEx...She said it was the best choice. Thanks for the response. And welcome to myLot. I hope that you have a great time here.

I hope it wasn't time sensitive, like for a birthday for example!

No, Lorden. It was just to send her something. I actually will be there in the Phils on her birth day this year. I am happy to say that I will make sure to send things at least two months in advance... But why this long? I mean I can understand a little time for customs, but two months...I dont know.
