There is a girl in Afghanistan who is forced by her parents to marry an older man who is a taliban fighter when she is just 12. Her husband is very abusive, so she tried to escape when she is 18 years old. because she is escaped her husband, her brother sentenced her for honor killings. her husband and brother mutilated her nose and ears and left her for dead, her relatives didnt tried to help help her, they disowned her. she is then found by American soldiers and they saved her life. she is now living in the US, now she goes to school and she is now given a prosthetic nose: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MfE9Iv07dA she will have surgery once she is emotionally stable.

Such a sad story and unfortunately there's too many instances of so-called marriage-slavery and it's horrible. The girl is probably going to have to go through extensive therapy for many years, I mean this happened when she was twelve years old! Then the pain of rejection from her family on top of it all. Really, it's not the families ultimately at fault, it's what their theocratic society expects the families should react. I don't know, more has to be done to rescue these girls, and I hope and pray Amnesty International would step in big time in the near future, as this stuff is happening more and more. Pretty sad, honour killings happen even here in Canada, too :-(

she is still traumatized, her foster parents said that she is still getting nightmares, sometimes she is crying in fear and says someone is going to kill her. she is still recovering. I hope she can fully let go of the past and enjoy her life in America. Out of millions oppressed little girls in Afghanistan, she is the only one saved,

Thanks God that she was saved. At least she has escaped from them without getting killed !. I don't know how those people think. We should learn how to respect both the dignity of a child and the dignity of a woman. Because once one of these two is misstreated, it is like if we are looking to ruin this humain's life and, so, to destroy a whole generation that will follow him. We must do something towards these behaviors, because none of them is humain!

Its sad that more little girls are still being forced to get married in that place. Little girls should not marry oldermen, let them be kids.

I think think boys in afghanistan should be educated on how to treat women and girls, they should be educated that children should not marry, so the girls and women there will have a better life.

Yes there are people in the world who still do these unspeakable acts and believe they are "right" by their country. They are just so uncaring and should become a woman in their own country in their next life in order to experience what they do to the females in their countries, it makes me sick that females are treated so badly in parts of our world. I'm happy she was saved and will be getting some help as far as how her nose is, and such. I like happy endings and wish the best for this woman, she will make a great police woman. God bless her. She deserves more than she ever got in her childhood.

I think she is currently using a prosthetic nose, they were planning to give her a surgery in the future to restore her ears and nose. for now she is busy with school and learning English. A couple adopted her like she is their own daughter, Its sad that her family see her as an infidel or a sinner.she is the victim of the situation.

Wow, thats terrible to hear. I am sad when I hear of these types of things happening. She has had a really tough go of her life so far. That is the main reason that I dont really agree with arranged marriages. It seems like a legalized way of slavery. People need to have a choice as to who they want to marry. And no one has any business forcing a young girl at the age of 12 to get married no matter what. They are not ready at that age. In the US they are allowed to be kids, go to school and grow up. And then enjoy the love of another person. Here that man would be arrested for statitory rape. I am happy to know that now she has a good change and chance at a better life. She will still have trouble going through the emotional trama of her start to life. But I hope the very best for that young lady.

she said she is still having nightmares and and her trauma is still not fully healed but she is now doing something she never did in Afghanistan, it is to smile and to laugh. I thought she will be sent back to Afghanistan after the operation, we know her life is endangered in that country. But she is now a refugee.

This kind of stuff happens all the time I'm sure, all over the world and the women or men who are the victim aren't saved. I'm glad this girl was, and I am sure she's very appreciative to the American soldiers who saved her life, and just in the knick of time.

she said that she wants to be a police woman, I think this girl will be an American citizen now. she have no place in Afghanistan anymore, her family wants to kill her because they think she is an infidel. Have you notice, she stopped wearing the veil, ever since she is adapted by the US. I am happy she enjoys freedom now. a life with no abuse,.

hi, It is really good to know that she is saved. God came to rescue her in the form of American soldiers. I prey God, let her be stable and be recovered from surgery soon and let live her own life, like a common man at US.
