Now,finally, it come to this point that I need to make ends meet. I dont have enough money to last for the next 5 days. My close friend knows this. He is willing to lend me some but we are in the same plight. Now, our company has this incentive scheme which just started weeks ago, of giving some gift certificate (GC). Immodesty aside with had work, I'm one of the beneficiary of 3 grande coffee jelly - GC. I don't know what made me do this. Instead of borrowing money to others or using my credit card (already maxed out), I traded this GC for cash to a friend who is a coffee addict, I think. I'm glad I got that incentive. I have now an extra money for the next 5 days. I makes me smile, when there is a will, there is a way. We just search for it, who knows, it may also be a GC. Do you prefer gift certificate or cash? Do you also want to trade that in cash? Any thoughts will be very much appreciated.

Hello mikyung I am sorry to hear that you are having financial difficulties, but glad to see that you were able to use your noodle and raise some funds to last you through the week. I prefer cash, as it can be used anywhere. However, that is not to say that I have not used Gift Certificates as well.

Hello succe66, It refers to Gift Certificate! It refers to monetary equivalent and can be use to purchase goods or many other services as cash alternative. Most institution using GC as gift instead of cash. Welcome to mylot!

It depends on where the gift cards are to. If they are for a restaurant or store I like then I like those. I save them for when I am low on money. If I am already low on money and have the choice then I would opt for the money.

I would do the same either if ever. That was a good idea having the GC trade in cash.Especially if the GC is not really useful to you.I will use GC when I know things would be necessary to purchase by GC otherwise I prefer cash,so choices can be made on how to spend. Great day!

Great that you can survive for 5 days now. That gift certificates really help alot and the person who bought it. Receiving gift certificates is really great yet cash is much better lol. But we should be thankful in everything we get and received whatever it is.

Wow, you gave me a great idea mikyung, maybe next time I will trade my gift certificate into cash. I used to received gift certificate from my patient and husband but I always used in the grocery as a mode of payment, hope that next time I will found someone who's willing to change my gift certificate to cash, because I preferred cash that G.C. :)

Just look around Bhebhelen. You can find someone who is also addicted to something, like my friend - coffee. Thanks

Hello Mikyung, It seems like you are very resourceful. Sometimes we all have to make the best of our situation. Sometimes I liquidate gift cards, especially, if it's an Amazon gift card. The way I do this is I list an item on eBay that I can drop ship off of Amazon. I don't actually own the item until after I sell it. After the item sells on eBay I used my Amazon gift certificate to pay for it and have it shipped to the person who bought it. The person who buys it on eBay receives a brand new item that is shipped directly to their address and I receive the money in my PayPal account. Then if I want to, I can, transfer the money from PayPal to my checking account. Sometimes we all need the cash more than we need coffee.
