I had my mouth-to-mouth training this morning!

It was so funny when my name was called to take a return demonstration on how to do mouth-to-mouth resuscitation; I was not timid to take a drama scene because you need to first survey the scene. I was over-acting, doing some facial expressions for my instructor to notice that I was in the middle of a man-lying-on-the-ground scene. I even shouted her yelling to call 911 (as if real). She was laughing but still continued the drama. I did the CPR (mouth-to-mouth) with everyone laughing at me! lols

I was able to do the same thing when I was in college. "Hi, hi are you ok?, the patient is not responding, check airway.... ." It was somehow fun but when I did it for the first time to a human being, I was terrified to watch the person go.

Yes, same statements. "hey, are you okay?" while tapping the shoulders! I could really relate. What course did you take? Really? You did it with a real person? Were you using a barrier or just directly to the mouth? Because if you were directly doing it in the mouth of the patient, you could get or transmit microorganism to/from the patient. It's a sad news that he's gone but I know you did your best to revive him.

It's hard to be in your profession.. I couldn't stand seeing people dying. And the mouth to mouth process, that is so hard to do but could save the life of a person. But using a barrier is a more safe way, we have to take care of our own health too.

Yes, I know how it feels being in the situation wherein you could only do is CPR and you can't find a barrier. Well, it's bravo for you doing such! I salute you!

While you are in a classroom it all seems easy. From experience I can tell you once you start working in an ambulance or emergency room, it will jolt you to reality. I was a field medic in the Army and later took my EMT at a community college. Just remember what is cute in a classroom, is very dramatic and real to a patient. When our class did the extracation class, that jolted everyone to just how serious a situation can be. Good Luck in your classes. Try to get a little more serious though. This could be someones life you are trying to save.

Yes. It seems really ridiculous of my act. I was at first, would like to try to be serious in the drama because I really wanted it to be real. Perhaps, I over acted. Sorry, I'll be more serious the next time. I think I had a good return demonstration ,though.
