why were the policemen fat anyway, as policemen are notorious to be extortionists on the streets and even murderers. but not all of course. but this time it is the fat policemen. i would wish that there is fool proof way to find out all those policemen that are criminals themselves so we can first have to get them out of the service . so i am not against fat policement. but still a fit policeman is needed although having a honest people on service is more important.

Don't know why policemen are fat, but perhaps the allowance for them to snack while at work might have contributed to the problem somewhat.
We all want policemen to be fit and healthy so that they can carry out their duty at the utmost optimal level. I don't really know what the training criteria are for police officers, but a regular yearly or every two yearly fitness test should isolate those unfit and overweight policemen, and they could either be removed or the police force could undergo some sort of training to get those policemen's weight down and fitness level up. But you are right; honesty is still more important than fitness. In my birth country, corruption is extremely rampant and the police force is already notorious for that. So, I would much rather see corruption wiped out first and foremost.......

In the Philippine setting, I guess their days are numbered. I heard that Pnoy is considering getting lacson as the new DILG chief. I can still recall how he made it a requirements for cops to trim down otherwise their out of the service. If lacson becomes DILG chief, I guess this would be his chance to regain the glory that he lost

Policemen should be fit so that they could run faster when chasing criminals and for them also to be more quick in doing things. Those fat policemen should exert efforts to become more slimmer and to be healthy also at the same time.

Well like in the films the policeman job is 99% waiting and 1% action. So they just eat fast foods or like in the American films donuts. And when they eat this fast foods and stay in one place like in the car all day without any exercise or just a walk they just go fat. Maybe it would be good idea for the police to give them food which is more healthy than these fast foods that they buy. Well it depends on the policemen. Maybe there are some that just get homemade food when they are on work.

Those policemen who are overweight and those who have bulging tummy that exceeds a certain measurement may say goodbye to public service. I agree with that. I think, this was a previous standard formulated by chief-of-police, way back then and now he is now a senator, I congratulate him for a awesome idea. I'm glad they are giving this policy a chance to prove it's worth. This is a win-win situation. Also, it may bring good health for those policemen. Hope it will be properly implemented. I think, happy days will be over soon for those criminals if this will be the case.

Too many donuts.?.? lol I think that same thing when I see some of the officers in my city. A few of them are huge!! If they ever have to chase someone down there is no way they will be able to keep up to them. Maybe it is from sitting on the job too much as they drive around all day. But I agree officers should be fit to do their job the best that they can

I would think that they would be made to stay fit, like some sort of gym membership was a requirement, but they were given a bonus so that they could keep going to the gym and becoming slimmer / staying fit. Maybe even a standard weekly 2 mile run across some tracks, you know?
It's not fair for them to axed, but it is also a safety precaution, maybe let them see if they can pass a physical before axing them though.
