I am an Electronics and Communication Engineering graduate and a licensed one too. But I can't seem to figure out what's the best direction for me in terms of my career. I can be assigned in a lot of fields: telecommunications, semiconductor, broadcasting, information technology, and even in solutions/programming. In which field is on the trend today in terms of the best career path and offers the best compensation and salary? Any Licensed ECE out there? hehehe

thank you so much for your insights. Please help me.

I think you should pursue your career in either from Electronics or Communications as engineer. I'm an ECE also, and right now I'm a supervisor not an engineer. If given the second chance, I love to work as an engineer. Guess I'm too old to change career now.

Both fields will give you big salary. Salary difference is from the company that you will be working with. An electronic engr of company A might have bigger salary than company B even if their job function is the same. Whichever you choose, just learn and try to be the best engr in that company. From that, you will be promoted and salary goes along with it. Just focus on your work.

Yeah. I am still confused with which field I will pursue. Which of these two fields offers greater salary?

Yeah. But to start off, you only get less salary on both fields. Here in our country, most compensation package offer the minimum salary. And the expenses are very high in our country.

Hi,
For engineers today, I think the most promising careers are in Project management. You can initially join any of the PMC (project management Consultants) in you country and get some experience. In India the options of open for telecom, IT, Infrastructure/real estate / building & constructions and the list goes on.
My husband’s field is electrical and his last job was site engineer for a shopping mall. These days he’s on his own and plans to do his consultancy services as he’s experienced for over 15 years.
However, it is best to look for options which interest you most as if you love what you do, you can learn fast and earn well.
Best of luck.

Thanks for commenting. The hard thing for me is that I am a fresh graduate. Yes, there are a lot of choices from the lists but they seldom hire someone with no experience. I like to be in a telecoms and networking field. But I don't know where I can get good training and experience from a company. I am from the Philippines and the job opportunity here is far less than compared to the other countries. What companies would you suggest that i can apply based on my chosen field?

Hi,
If you are interested for telecom, then you should search for openings in that sector for freshers. Or you can apply through some of the popular job sites like Monster.com etc. Well i am from India and do not have knowledge of big companies of Philippines but i suggest you to browse the top 50 /75 companies and /or mail/send your detailed CV to the company HR depts. Wish you get your choice of job @ earliest.

i have a friend who is a licensed ECE and now working in telecommunications in the middle east. he is doing well in terms of career growth and financial stability. our engineers are sought after in the global arena. you just have to know right people or ask your university of any job offerings local and abroad.

Yeah. You have to have a lot of network of people so that they can refer you to jobs and opportunities. My problem is that how can I gain valuable experience so that I can be able to work abroad. It's hard to find companies that hires fresh graduates. Because they always look at the job experience of a person. Even though I am a licensed Engineer, there are also a lot of people who are competing for jobs. I am from the Philippines.

I think you should find a job that interests you, even if it isn;t your dream job and you really do not know which diretion you want to pursue. Get your foot in the door and you will be surprised what doors will open for you. There will be jobs, opportunities and avenues that you never thought you might like- that you turn out being just perfect for you.
Get that first job on your resume and move up the ladder from it.
Good luck- you have a wonderful life ahead.
