Anyone else a Squidoo Lens Master?

June 16, 2012 10:21am CST
I've been a member of the site for years but have only just started to really work at it and now have 7 lenses. I haven't made much money so far but my lenses aren't really the type that would get a lot of sales so I don't expect to. Article marketing is tough to make money at I've found as I hate just writing sales articles I prefer to write about things that interest me, but that doesn't sell much sadly. I am finding a bit frustrating that some of the lenses that are quite new have not made any money despite having a steady flow of traffic. Hopefully they will start to bring in some money at least. If you are on squidoo tell me your lensmaster name and we can check out each others lenses, mine is nancyrowina.

Believe me, I feel your pain in more ways than you know. I have been a member of squidoo for many years and did earn there before the changes. I like you, love to write and started blogging again. If you enjoy writing about what you like and not sales stuff, continue doing this but why not blog? Then use your blog to earn revenue instead of squidoo. You need alot more than just traffic to earn on squidoo now. Wish I could explain it but dont understand it any more. Coffeebreak is really good on squidoo and she will probably reply. Anyway my username is the same here on squidoo. Good luck with your lenses.

@nancyrowina, did you link your blog to the squidoo lenses? I heard this does wonders for both squidoo and blogs. I must admit squidoo does seem to generate mysterious traffic but unfortunately even traffic is not enough to earn there, since the changes. I used to earn monthly because I do have the traffic. I really used to love squidoo but just dont have the time to figure out all the changes and how to make it work for me. Its an old fashioned method but try linking to some other blogs that have your same topic. Good luck.

My blogs make no money so far and get very little traffic. Squidoo, however is much easier for me to feel creative and actually write with quality. The traffic is what brings the sales but you have to do the work to get the traffic. Write quality articles that make people want to read what you have put out there, and have good quality sales modules that will offer items people want to buy that are relevant to what you wrote about. Many people are making their living with Squidoo. I'm not there yet, but it's my goal to at least supplement my income there. Another place to make some quicker money although it is small, is with what used to be Associated Content and is now Yahoo! Voices. Smaller articles that you don't have to embellish with graphics or sales modules. But smaller money too.

I like Squidoo. Haven't been there much lately, but I have a few lenses. It is good for trackbacks to the blog and stuff. Be sure to find and friend me there :-)

I just tried searching for your username and it didn't show me anything, it is hard to find other users on there, and it would be good if we could friend each other on there.

Hi Nancy - I never got into Squidoo. Have looked at it a few times but not really done anything with it at all. I might take a look again if I can remember my log in! If I can I will look for you on it.

It is fun to an extent as you level up the more active you are, but it's not as easy to make money as it seems. I just do it for the fun and am experimenting with how to increase the traffic to my lenses.

Money is slower on Squidoo, but once it starts, it's better than here. It takes time, patience, and continued effort. The more lenses you make, the more money. For example, the lens that I made that has finally started making money (and is not for me personally but for a support group) is making an average of $10/month now. It took 6 months to start making the money and 8 months for it to start showing up in the account simply because Squidoo pays 2 months after the money is made. But suppose now that there are 100 lenses each making about $10 a month after several months of hard work. Get the idea? Now if a lens written for a support group can make money, think what other lenses can do when they are actually about topics that lots of people are interested in and have good writing and sales modules included.

Keep writing about the things that interest you. Then think about the items that might sell that are related to that interest. You can find anything out there on those sales modules to sell that can connect to your topic. I actually prefer to see the lenses that are written about something and have the sales modules that connect to that much more than seeing lenses that have very little writing on them and are all about the sales modules. I avoid them like avoiding a needle at the doctors office. It's much better to write and enjoy what you write. Because when you write with passion, that shows through and will attract a better following of people who will most likely purchase from your page simply because it is there and they happen to be thinking about it right then. I don't know what your interests are, but I am sure you can find items to sell within those interests. One thing I have done is to use those sales modules in a more general way rather than specific. For example, on the Amazon modules, I don't select a category. I leave it open. Then I select to choose the items myself, type in the search words, and scroll through the lists of items and pick what fits best to what I am writing about. I do the same with the other modules. Also try to write something in the sections provided in each of the sales modules so it breaks up the spaces some. But the work doesn't end with the making of the lenses. You still have to do things to promote the lenses, such as going on Twitter or Facebook, or other methods to promote your writing. Blog about it. Connect your lenses to your blogs, etc. Then remember that the money from Squidoo comes about two months after the money is there. Squidoo has reasons for this that make sense. The first lens I did that made money didn't start making money for about 6 months but the money did not show up in the account for 8 months. That was a very specialized topic, also, so it would not appeal to everyone. You can do it. Don't give up. Keep writing. Write for yourself, and your passion. Then build the sales modules. Do the SEO, (Search Engine Optimization) and then write some more. It will happen.

Hi. I'm also a member on Squidoo, I've been there for more than a year. Just like you my account has been dormant there for quite some time a few months after signing up. After 7 months, when I earned my first payout did I only realize that it really pays and that there really is an earning potential. I have the same username on Squidoo, you can try check out some of my lenses there. I'll be checking out yours too.
