The Sourav Ganguly-led technical committee of the Indian cricket board recommended some new changes in the domestic cricket format. There are two major changes in the Ranji Trophy format. There will be nine teams in three groups - A, B and C. Each team will play eight matches in the league stage and there will be promotion and relegation. i think the changes will make the competition even and each team will play a few more matches. Each team will play eight matches at the league stage. Three teams each from groups A and B and two from group C will qualify for the knockout phase. The committee also proposed that quarterfinals, semifinals and the final should be five-day affairs. According to the current format only the final is a five-day affair.

Interesting changes. Let's see if this can get us some good test players as we look for long term replacements for Dravid, Ganguly, Sachin, Laxman and Kumble. Cheers! Ram

Hi ROCKHARISH , I think Sourav Ganuly has made a drastic change in the Ranjhi Trophy formats . It now quite similar to international series. The teams will get more opportunity play and more players can get opportunity to show their talent in local matches. let us wait and see how these changes are going to make an impact on the Indian Cricket .
