I don't know whether it's good or bad but I am the same way. I think technology is just becoming a part of everyday life for most people. I guess it has it's good points and bad points. My hard drive needed to be replaced on my computer a few weeks ago. Lucky thing my brother-in-law is pretty good with electronics so installed a new one for me. In the meantime I was having withdrawls! I was on my husband's computer every day. I couldn't stand not having my computer to use. Welcome Back!

hi suebee yes I agree its just part of our modern life and so many here are cou ch potatoes just glued to the ever o n televsion. You wou ld think a computer would give them something substantial to do with their time. The closest place with free computers was the library aqnd its too far for me with having to use my walker to get around. thankfully my son was able to rebuild my computer and get me a new to me used computer.thanks for the welc ome. it feels so good to be back here again.I missed all my many mylot friends here.

Well, it sure saves money if you know someone who can help you out with computer repairs. I'm so lucky that I haven't had to take mine in to a shop for repairs yet.

hi I shudder to think how muc h this would have cost me to go to a repair shop. my son is a computer programmer but now in this bad economy he had to take an electronics repair job which pays less but it is a job and thats what counts now. I am a lucky woman indeed.

Good to see you back Hatley and 3 cheers to your son for getting life back into your computer! If mine packs up, I still have my netbook but if that goes too... well I might get the ironing done! I would be at a loss for my emails which deal with personal and offline stuff. I think I could manage without myLot - NOT!

Welcome back Hatley! I had noticed you missing and was surprised that no one was asking about you. But then, it seems that a lot of the regulars are missing at the moment. Holiday time I guess. My computer suffers from the hot weather. It needs turning off from time to time as it overheats. I know how frustrating it can be not to have a computer. Glad to have you back!

hi chang oh yes I was healthy but my computer had a melt down and took the monitor with it., my son really did a great job rebuilding it from scratch and even getting me a new to me used led monitor \as my old one was shot t oo. I love the led monitors so light weight and nice big clear screens. wow.yes he used used parts and replaced just about everything in the computer, it had shorted and melted a whole lot of parts so had to start over from scratch really.

What is the truth about Arnie's surname? Is it Swarzenheimer or Schwarzenegger? If it's been both, which one came first? Does anyone know? Has anyone noticed that in the second version, if you pronounce the name with a South African accent you may get something that's not quite politically correct?

hi John as when I made this I still was not sure which spelling was right and of course I could have looked it up but got lazy. I was thinking of the Terminator and his famous line" I will be back" I think it is Schwarzenegger but need to look it up to be sure lol. well now my computer is working again I can look up things even if on our mylot search engine I never yet have got a reward. lol

When I saw "Swarzenheimer" on your post I thought it was your mistake, and then I found that that name is elsewhere on the internet (with different spellings) referring to the same person. On film adverts and for political purposes he's always Schwarzenegger, but -heimer appears to have come from somewhere, it's not just you. If he was originally called that, but changed it to -negger because it sounds more macho (not noticing that it also has overtones of political incorrectness), I haven't been able to track it down on the internet.

Welcome back, Hatley! You have been missed greatly and I'm sure that you have missed MyLot just as much! I think that being dependent on such a frail thing as a computer is often dangerous. Think of all those people whose businesses wouldn't run if their computers went down. It would inconvenience them and their customers immensely. We can only hope that they have a backup solution in place but, of course, there are many small businesses who don't. For someone like you, for whom the computer is a connection to the outside world and friends, I think that making it a large part of your life is natural and has many good points. You have many genuine online friends in MyLot alone (and doubtless in other sites) who were worried when you disappeared. When we heard that it was you computer that had broken down, not you, we were greatly relieved but I'm sure many of us felt your frustration at not being able to go online. I join with everyone here in welcoming you back and wishing you (and your computer) a long and happy stay!

thanks so much owlwings I sure did miss all my my lot friends and all the places I go everyday on the net. Its a sad thing how dependent our businesses are. when I worked in the library and the computers shut down the clerks had to do all the checking in and out of media by hand.once we even closed for a day as too much depended on having accessible computer use. I am also glad that at least I was in good health even if my computer and monitor both had melt downs completely. am glad my son could rebuild my computer and get me a new to me used led monitor. things are looking up now for me.

hi owlwings maybe because I mispelled Arnies last name? lol anyway I am back and glad to be. So there is a Schwartzenegg in /Austria and thats probably the best way to spell his name too.lol makes sense if you came from Swartzenegg you could be called Schwarzenegger for sure. lol.from some of the stuff he pulled as Ca's govenor he has been called other less flattering names too.

Hi Hatley, When I seen you on....I was like, wow! She's back!I am glad you got your computer back. It's a pain not having it What happened is,it seems this site has had some technical issues the past few weekends and this past Friday was the 15th and myLot is getting the pay ready to hand out and the site as tech issues then also. On Friday night I started a discussion which at first did not post and I received a note in red near the top to go back and try again. So,I did and it posted.A few minutes later I got an email,a notification from myLot saying that I had gone against the rules and duplicated the discussion. They only deleted one of them and during the weekend several people replied to it and I replied back. Then on Monday night I received the same notice and they deleted the discussion that remained from Friday and myself and several other's had worked on!

hi dfollin oh my gosh in other words they also deleted the sec ond one too, thats hitting below the belt. I think if you hit contact and other and asked why the second one was deleted you might be able to get it back again. I think two different p eople on the admins saw the two and each one deleted one not knowing the other had also deleted so I would sure ask why both were deleted. I am sure they did not want to delete both just because you had a glitch and got two for the price of one. when there is a fowl up like that hurry and hit the report button and report yourself as having two of the same discussion. this way its done before anyone can respond and you asked them to get rid of the excess one.that way you will not lose both discussions. sorry to hear of that. I am so glad to again have mycomputer working.

how strange - don't know how that would work, but I guess it did - I've had more than one monitor die, but never took anything with them! I currently have my first new monitor in 10 years - and I've had it over a year now... still, the freecycle ones I had were great! (and my roomie has an HD tv that I got that had been used as a monitor as her monitor now - only problem... its stuck on Spanish instructions when we wanted to set it up! (can you say - no Spanish in the household? Had to have my guy friend "J" come over and even his Spanish is sort of shaky!)

hi ElicBxn yes it is as until a few months ago my monitor was just so great. he took it apart and a bunch of capacitors were burst open as though they had overheated. he bought this monitor for me for Christmas in 2006 and at that time some company in China had sold millions of bad capacitors to computer and monitor companies all over the US and then in the years after a whole slew of computers and monitors had shown up with burned out capacitors all from this huge company in China. my son thinks these were bad capacitors to begin with and finally burst. you could look at them and see a plus like mark on each one where it had actually ruptured. so odd too. at least nothing caught fire in my room from the melt down. costly but still only half of what a brand new computer and monitor would have cost. I took two years of Spanish in college and never used it and now while I can read most of it I am not fluent in it at all.when I worked in the library the Spanish phrase I heard most often was "no habla Anglaise" meaning she did not speak English and did not read English either.her daughter translated for her as the kids do learn English in school but most of the parents refuse to learn it here. We in Ca do ha ve a lot of illegal Mexicans who used the library but knew almost no English at all

hi ElicBxn I have had some Mexicans say they cannot read English and I almost laughed as they said this in English but the kids do read it and speak it. so why cannot the parents try to learn it too? but I had my first child w hen I was 32, second when I was 33 eleven months apart but my s econd had some brain damage because it took them too lone to revive her, she was actually turning blue when she was born. but we loved her so much and only had her for 8 years. I had to have emergency hysterectomy following her birth. not good always to have children that late but thats the way it went.

Yes, i know that feeling. Its bad enough when internet is out but not having computer at all is way worse. I had this problem awhile back too. My printer would not shut off. I couldnt get it to respond to anything i tried. So i desided to unplug it for a few minutes. All things for my computer are plugged into a power strip. So i just unplugged the power strip. When i plugged it back in the computer would not turn on again. So i had a printer that wouldnt shut off and a computer that wouldnt turn on. My son-in-law came and fixed it. In between the day it broke and the day it was fixed was 1 week. Worse part was i could not play my game, Sims3. The power box had shorted out. So my son-in-law put a more powerful one on it and a better graphic card. All of which makes my game way better. I spend much of my free time playing that game. In fact on 'you tube' i started a mini series called "Sims3Land". If ya get the chance watch it. So far i have either 9 or 10 episodes.

hi jdyrj777 wow what a situation your printer would not stop and your computer would not turn on. I was off for a month I guess as it took three weekends to rebuilt this computer from scratch and get a new to me used monitor. the capacitors in my led monitor had burst open so it was a gone gosling indeed. my son bought that for me as a christmas gift in 2006 right when China had sold to American companies capacitors that went bad by the millions.so he thinks those were bad capacitors that finally just burst in my wonderful led monitor. I had really loved it as it was easy to move with a large screen and was not clumsy like the old crt one I had had. this new used one is also an led so should be fine for me now. am so glad to be back here though and mylotting again.

I bought my screen many years ago and its still working fine. Its only a 15 inch flat screen. It was $300. back then too. Sometimes i wish for a larger one but as long as its working i will use it. I think playing my game ona larger screen would be fun. I still never checked to get my printer running again. My son-in-law didnt know anything about them. But he said dont connect it to the computer again until it figure it out.

Hiya Hatley! Glad to see you back, I've missed you a lot. My computer is a large part of my life too. However, whenever I'm at Mum's (no computer there) I don't actually miss being on it as I like the break, funnily enough. Mind you, if this computer suddenly broke I wouldn't be happy, purely due to the fact hubby has hold of the remote control for the telly!

oh not as good as that really. I loved little House and the Waltons but the W altons got kind of syrupy after awhile.he he so you can hold your own, come to think about it my hubby would give in to me after a little while. He was so easy going at times I would like to pick a fight just to see if he would get upset but truly I loved him for his cheerfulness and his sense of humor I know as I read from other mylotters that a lot of women have hubbies that are not good humored or positive thinkers so I was lucky indeed.

I suspect you are not alone on that one. It is, like a rule. No program can determine if any arbitrary program will terminate.- Alan Turing So, way to go Arnie! I’m glad you are back and happy. How do we know it is really you? Blowing a kiss here and watching what reaction comes back. Regarding whether it is good or bad really can only be determined by your heart but we know this already. ps: there were other discussions, one on emails where members wondered how you were doing, see girl, people do notice and care, you betcha.

hi Bluedoll y es they have but think I might have been remiss some way but still one of the fans was not working so that would have contributed to its overheating. So I am again having fun and will see more money in my payout as I got to participate in two days of quadruple earnings. lol lol

hi bluedoll yes its a part of me now, and am glad to be back on it and happy to once more talk to all my friends.Yes I got a lovely long distance from Garden Gerty so I could let everyone know I was not sick, but my poor computer did suffer a melt down.Yes I have real friends here and really they are friends too. some more so than some offline friends. I am finding that mylot is not letting me download the notifications from my mylot email. so I am going inside here and using friends tab to respond to their discussions.

Computers have been known to do that. Well it is good then there is more than one to do something. Hope you enjoy all your time again and have no worries in the doing of it.
