A friend of mine from Bermuda who used to live in Montreal when she was growing up bought a summer cottage in Quebec. She lives in Bermuda and has another friend to take care of her summer cottage for her.
Well there was a big storm that pull down trees that smashed into the cottage and damaged some of the property.
She had to pay over 1,000 in repairs. She only paid 13,000 for the cottage.
The thing is she never took out insurance.
Do you have a summer cottage and did you take out house insurance on it?

omg, i would so much love to have a summer cottage somewhere out of this heat. like in Ohio or something. probably couldnt afford to go tho, cause my son needs me here to help pay mortgage.
and he couldnt go because of his job.
to bad she didnt get insurance that would have been less all the way around. things like this is what causes people to end up broke when they used to have money. its what happened to me such things as unforseen expenses when you didnt think first

Hello winterose
I do not have a summer cottage. I suppose that my taking insurance out on it would be dependant on several things, such as how much I had invested, how fluid I was financially, and where it was located.
