what do you think is the best gift for a nine-year old son?

my son will soon celebrate his birthday. My husband and I are thinking of what to give him. We've given him toys, psp and clothes before, but now that his almost past his playing years, we really find it hard to find the right gift for him. Could you suggest a good gift for our son.

That is a hard question since you've already said that you've given him almost everything. But could I suggest a pet? I think a nine-year old would like having one. I have a friend who has a brother, about the same age, and she gave him a dog for his birthday. She said he almost doesn't want to leave without bringing the dog with him.
