No Room for Superstition

Today when I opened my garage door, I found an unpleasant thing. Lying on the driveway directly in front of my door was a dead black bird, missing its head, which had been presumably eaten by some sort of predator, or perhaps scavenger. If I were a superstitious person, who I am not, I probably would have seen this as some sort of bad omen, which I do not. Rather, all I see is that this poor bird is now dead, and for that bird it is a sad thing. However, for the creature that ate its head this tragedy was just another day of sustenance. That is all I see, and all I ever will see of this incident. It has no omen to it; nor will any ominous superstitious curse befall me because of it. No such nonsense has any reality for me at all, period. And because I personally refuse to believe in such an omen, then any curse implied by this kind of juxtaposition of death, can never touch me or have any kind of adverse effect on me. My very disbelief disables any power that superstitions have on others who do believe in such delusions.

I am enjoying to read what you have written. You really hit the nail on the head, it is unfortunate that most people do not understand that what you believe in is usually what happens to you.

Yeah, Mashnn, You got it. You really understand the heart of what I am saying here. Our reality is formed by what we believe, and conversely it can be just as much shaped, (in a counter point sort of way), by what we do NOT believe.

With the endless flow of human knowledge today, I don't think that there's any room for baseless superstitious belief. You have clearly and scientifically explained what with the bird in your house. People will believe what they wish to believe. But if that belief is backed with valid proofs. That belief becomes a fact.

I am not a believer of superstitious as well. The word superstitious alone define the meaning of it- so what should I care. I'd rather follow my inner feelings/instinct but not superstitious beliefs that scared many.

I am also a believer in myself and god and the non- believer of such superstitions. Had I seen something like that, even I would have felt the same way you felt about the bird. I am glad there are a lot of people who do not believe in these sort of superstitions and the bad omens that make all these sort of things to bring them down! Good luck for your future!

Hi friend, good to hear that you are not a superstitious person. If a superstitious person faced this kind of situation, s/he will waste the entire day without doing any thing,. but you take it sportive and only felt for the lost bird, that's good and i admire you for your thoughts
