Usually it happen during the weekend, when I work two jobs in a day. After my full time job, I went straight to my part time job, which is laborious work. I have to stand at least 6 hours for my part time, sometimes I have to walk fast. I guess that is the problem, lack of exercise, and while I was at sleep, all of sudden, my lower calf get cramped; I have to stand up slowly and walk in my bedroom around slowly to relieve from the cramp. Is that a normal condition? Does it happen to someone else here before?

You need more calcium. Cramp can be caused by calcium deficiency.

I use to get this all the time when I worked full time midnights at a fast food place. I was standing for 8 - 12 hours a night and my feet would cramp when they changed space, or form. Normally when I went to bed, and relaxed it would cringe, twitch, cramp and so on. I figured after awhile it was my shoes and wasnt enough support. I bought (expensive) shoes frrom new balance as I need non slip shoes, they had arches, and it did wonders for me.

I get cramps in my lower calf sometimes when I walk too much during the day. But last night when I had a cramp, it was at a strange location, somewhere near the side of my knee, still on the lower calf though. I would usually stretch my legs and pull my toes towards me to relieve the pain. Somehow this is not as painful as having toe cramps. I get that too and it can be very painful indeed. Leg cramps can sometimes be attributed to deficiency in potassium. So I would take bananas sometimes.

Cramps are friendly with most!. One needs to drink plenty of water and that will keep them at bay! You are doing the right thing by getting up and walking around. Cramps are benign but a nuisance all the same!

I've experienced something like that before and yes, lack of exercise can be a cause. Having a desk job and living a sedentary life, I felt some discomfort sleeping. I even wake up in the middle of the night with leg cramps and almost cry my eyes out because of too much pain. Also, the cold weather contributed to these episodes, that's why I make sure that I have a warm bed to sleep on, thick blankets and pillows. A friend told me that cramps are caused by lack of blood circulation so, it's also best to drink a glass of water an hour before sleeping. If you have time, maybe you can go and have a relaxing massage to at least loosen tight muscles and improve your circulation.

It happens to me. It's rare, though because one minute, my lower calf is fine..and the next, it has a cramp! Dx

it is an awful feeling isnt it. When you get it put your foot on something cold and this will make it better. If you have it at night time sleep if you can with one foot over the edge of the bed and you will find that you dont get it. I dont know why this works but it does

Cramps have been part of my life for many years now. I used to think it had to do with potassium, but lñater I decided that it had to do with the lack of adecuate exercise. It hurts very much and sometimes the pain does not go away for days. Maybe we should move our feet and legs when we are sitted or standing.

I had experienced it often before but now when i do so much job, i massage my legs and i always make sure to put my leg higher by putting pillows under it before i fall asleep,i havn't felt it for some time now. Or maybe its just because I havn't done so much lately.
