yes, many people do post link related to the topic as you have done her you have posted a link of discussion which has answer from admin which clears everything. thanks for links which are relevant to the topic. ohh.. Mylot Discussion Guidelines have increased in numbers I think the list was less compare to last time when i visited but now the list is huge. I think Mylot has updated it.

Tut tut Self promotion

When I am responding I often link to a similar, though different, topic but not if I posted it myself. I often respoind on those topics concerning the questions about stars or ratings or whatever and rather than repeat the same thing over and over again, I link to one of the more illustrative discussions which already discussed the same thing.

oops I thought that was only positive affirmations? Seriously, it sometimes tough to decern what is ok as a link and what is not when you are knee deep in thought. So thanks for setting it straight it helped.

Hi GajaGamini , Hi KrauseHome, Hi everyone I am finding this discussion a little confusing. Can anyone say what is meant by “promoting mylot stuff on mylot”. What did we want to promote exactly? I’ve read over the discussion but still not understanding what promoting of mylot stuff means? What I do understand is promoting links that bring people outside of mylot for the purpose of solicitation is not allowed. For many mylot is only about money and money becomes the reason for promotions and that is against the rules. I do understand how that kind of promotion is huge problem. Promotion though need not always be about money. For example, since I have no banners or outside links on my profile page, my only reason for meationing it here this once concerns the promotion of good will. I can’t see how that is wrong? Since mylot is made up of members then promotion of discussion itself might be praiseworthy?

hi, promoting Mylot stuff on Mylot means, promoting profile page link, irrelevant own discussion links, etc which can direct us to their content. everyone wants to get profile views and a lot of responses and comments on discussion started by them but for that we should not promote our profile page link or discussion link in any discussion. http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2648151.aspx in this discussion user has mentioned a link which is relevant to discussion which is a another discussion started by him, but if anyone is adding or putting link which is a completely irrelevant to discussion would be consider as promotion.

promoting discussion is not allowed and it is right because discussions would be flooded with links and text see my this discussion or my discussion rather than the responses and comments about the topic. yes, making friend and having friends is good way to get responses and comments to our discussion. if we comment on our friends discussion then they may visit our profile and comment on our discussion. it would be depend on our activity - more we active more exposure we get.

yes, posting relevant links to Mylot discussion is must because if it is not relevant then it would be consider as scam or promotional activity. we cannot say please have a look on my this discussion or please comment on this image which I have uploaded.
