My daughter loves anime and korean dramas. As you all know, anime originates in Japan. Theme songs of such anime are japanese and she loves listening to this kinds of music. I don`t have any idea what the music means since it is nipponggo (japanese). Recently she is hook up with korean singers. They have happy and jolly music with dance steps and she is fond of studying the choreography and dancing it. I am a musician and i think those music are really good. Even if i don`t understand it. When i hear their songs, it make me feel happy too because of the tune and uniqueness of voice and melody. Kpop (korean songs) and jpop (japanese songs) is also famous in our country. What can you say about this kind of music? They said that it went international, haven`t you heard about it? Are you a fan or are you against of them? Thank you for sharing your thoughts !!

I am Canadian and I don't speak any Japanese but I love anime music too, well some of it. I really like Kotoko has anyone heard of this girl? I am glad to see other people that can not understand Japanese also enjoy the rhythm and beat of this type of music.

I agree with you when you say that you enjoy the rhythm of japanese music. I mean music is a generic language that only our heart and soul can understand. Like even if the language is different all you have to do is close your eyes and listen. The music will somehow translate it but directly to your heart and soul. Music indeed makes us one

Yep I'm into the jpop and jrock etc. Every Sunday morning here in Australia we have a music show called Popasia where we get the latest music from Japan, Korea and China. Generally their songs are always happy and make you want to dance. I would also have no idea most of the time what they are singing about. I used to sing along a lot when I learned the lyrics but I never really bothered translating so never knew what I was singing about :D But I have been a fan of anime and the music since around 1999 - 2000 before it became really popular years later :)

Woah that`s great of you !! You must really be a fan. She once told me (my daughter) that music makes one. You don`t have to know exactly the meaning of a song. As long as it makes you good and happy when you hear one. I can appreciate it since music is the language of soul. It almost express who we are and what we feel. Good luck to you and thank you for sharing your thoughts

Yeah I keep up with a bit of it but wouldn't say I'm a fan of any one band or anything like that. But I do enjoy the music. You're welcome :D

Yes I love it very much! I love J-pop and K-pop especially 2NE1 and Morning Musume. Both are female groups and I love them so much, they are basically my life! I would have to say I like Morning Musume because of the happiness they bring along with their songs. 2NE1 because of their rhythm in their songs and the beat.

My husband likes the Kpop especially the group of girls named New Generation SNSD. I am very curious at first why he likes it until I heard their song and watched their MTVs, they really great and pretty. No wonder why my husband like them because the songs are good and the moves when they dance really great, no wondered why many young and adults like to them because of their beauty and good.

We have both reaction when i heard KPOP first to my daughter. I cant understand them and they have such a weird name and like everybody was a groupie. But when i tend to listen and know something more about it, i realized that its not that bad after all. They have unique way of showing talents and expressing music

Thank you for your response karyl !! I agree, i think they are trained for about three years and up. They have singing and dancing lessons and that what makes them great. I hope other artists do this also. There are artists nowadays that can`t sing or dance in live. They only do lip synchronization, that what makes me awful the most. I mean if you want to be artist, you might as well put an effort when it comes to your career

I'm a jpop and kpop lover too! :) Personally, I'm pretty open to all sorts of music, but those are what I mainly listen to. I'm not sure how to describe it, but they are just different (a nice different). Music is a universal language, so I don't think you need to necessarily understands the words to enjoy them (besides, you can hear how the singer(s) convey emotions in their songs/music, and in turn be moved by that expressed musical emotion) Besides, there are translations of many jpop and kpop songs around online, you just have to know the song title and search for it. ;)

I am kind open too when it comes to different kinds of music, as long as it is pleasing to my ears. "Music is a universal language, so I don't think you need to necessarily understands the words to enjoy them (besides, you can hear how the singer(s) convey emotions in their songs/music, and in turn be moved by that expressed musical emotion)" - very well said. I agree also with the translations part. I myself also reads the translations for me to enjoy more the music

It's really SAD actually, I know I've been into Japanese Music because of the anime shows that they are showing here in the Philippines. but look at our Philippine Songs that had been set aside and most songs now are nothing more than rendition. though am abit of a Kpop, Jpop, Us music, Filipino songs are still the best for me. sad that the industry went along for the ride and forgot about making our music industry to rise.

I`m a filipino too and like what you have said, OPM is almost gone. Reviving music from past generations or remaking music from international is what i hate in our artists. I mean why can`t we make our original song. What i also notice is that we are copying the tune and melody of music that are famous. Boy bands or groupie from GMA 7 are everywhere because of KPOP and JPOP. The style are also almost the same !! Of course why do we have to listen to their music when there is KPOP and JPOP right there that is original and more good looking. I just hope we can still do tagalog songs, if possible, beautiful songs that we can be proud of. I mean, japanese and korean still use their language but it is still famous because they are proud of who they are. I hope we can do it too. Thanks for sharing your thoughts !!

Me too! I am addicted to KPOP! I really don't understand what are they saying but I love their rhythm and the beat. Especially when I am watching their music videos, It is very dramatic and the song was fitted to the video. I really like them! Hahaha!

I agree !! The song, video, choreography are very well planned. She likes 2pm more. The guys were really good looking, have a good personality, can speak english and knows how to perform. Although all of them actually knows how to perform live. Like they can actually dance and sing good at the same time. She likes JYP entertainment a lot. The names of the group are kinda disturbing for me though. Like there`s 2am, 2pm, 2ne1 and 4minute. I mean whats with the numbers and sign?! Makes me real confuse. But i`m happy because my daughter likes them a lot. It just disturb me a little when she dances and copy even the outfit and make up of the girl group. I mean, korean make up are really expensive in the Philippines !!
