Sri Lanka won the first test against Pakistan beating them by 209 runs. Chasing an improbable target of 510 runs for victory, Pakistan lower middle order fought very hard, but were bowled out for 300 to lose the match. Younis Khan top scored with 87 with youngster Asad Shafiq weighed in with 80 runs. Kulasekara and Randiv picked 3 wickets each for Sri Lanka. Sangakarra won the man of the match award. What are your views on this huge win by Sri Lanka? Cheers! Ram

I am very happy, but it would have been better,if they had won it by an innings and 209,Especially when Pakistani 'lagan' team had defeated them through the summer, they should have won it more convincingly. I like Sanga,it was very good innings, unfortunately he missed out on a 200.

Yes, the match would have ended yesterday itself had Sri Lanka enforced the follow on. But anyhow it was a big win. Cheers! Ram

In the history of test cricket there have been 2-3 instances of a team following on going on to win. That should not really affect the thinking of the captains as most of the others have resulted in victories!! Cheers! Ram

Teams are think twice, before enforcing follow on,after Dravid,Laxman show at Eden Gardens in 2001.There is every chance that it could happen again, especially in flat pitches in sub continents, which are not square turners. We can't blame them for not enforcing follow on.

Sri Lanka gets a massive victory against Pakistan, a good performance from the Sri Lanka team to make a 209 run victory. Even in the 2nd innings Pakistan batsman couldn't do much, a couple of big centuries were needed but none could do it..

Yes, the Pakistani top order is really struggling. They were down three wickets within no time at all. But the lower middle order showed some fight. Cheers! Ram

By scoring 1 run in the second innings, Sanga did complete his 200 for the match. But he would have loved to get that one run in the first innings rather than being unbeaten. Cheers! Ram

I think Pakistan needs some good batsman. Right now they are lacking good batsman and good all rounders. I think may be adding new players and watching for one year to groom them might become solution for the bating disorder. I think right now Srilanka is a very good team.

I think their middle order is inexperienced. And that is affecting them. They need some time to get experienced at this level. Cheers! Ram

Pakistan was beaten thoroughly by Sri Lanka in the first test match. It was a huge victory margin. The wicket looked very flat when Sri Lanka was batting and I thought it was still flat when Pakistan was batting as well. But Pakistan struggled to play against some quality spin bowling by Sri Lanka. Pakistan made a little fight in the middle but after their low scoring the first innings it was impossible for Pakistan to come back.

Yes, the Sri Lankan spinners are very good against new comers. They know how to strangle them and then get them out. Pakistani youngsters could simply not keep up with them. Cheers! Ram

yeh it is a huge win for Sri lanka but we all know that Sri Lanka always shows great performance in their home they are roaring lions in their home but they are yet to prove their true class in outside pitches. Pakistan will be coming back strongly in next match so Sri Lanka have to work hard in order to survive inspite of their home advantage. The pitches donot have the power to make the game interesting it is suited for their players so hope for a exciting match in second test.

I would say not only at their home, but also with limited measure in the sub-continent. But outside the sub-continent they are perennial under-achievers other than the one test win they had at England courtesy Murali. Cheers! Ram

Fielding has been one area where Sri Lanka has had advantage over the other Asian teams. Both India and Pakistan have not been good in this aspect of the game for a long time now. Cheers! Ram
