To What Extent Do You Self Medicate?

There are sickness like simple cough, cold, headache, or a bit of fever which we often remedy with over-the-counter medicines. Just like now I have runny nose and sneezing a lot which is common to me during change of season. This started yesterday. Today I bought Cold & Flu tablets which the pharmacist recommended. I started taking them. I feel a bit better. Hopefully I feel much much better soon. If after 3 days I still feel sick, then, I will go and see our family doctor. How about you? Do you self medicate first prior to resorting to seeing your doctor? This is what I usually do unless there are other serious symptoms of infection and fever. With kids though, I bring them to the doctor straightaway.

I definitely don't waste my time going to the doctor for minor things like a cold. All they ever say here is oh it's viral, it will go away. I always used to think to myself, why did I waste my time coming here? I take colloidal silver and I feel better within a few days and I save my own time and gas. I am not a big doctor person. They have wasted more of my time than I care to think about, lol. If I think I am going to die I might think about seeing a doctor, other than that I will stay home and rest. Some people think doctors are the best people in the world, not me. I have seen too many that don't know barely anything!

Self medication is good for little issues like cold, cough, head ache. But, it is always good to consult a physician for all our health issues. Some times this kind of little health issues like cold, head ache may be a symptom to some high fever and diseases. If we take some medicines by our self without going for the check up, it will give some great complications to us. This kind of self medication activities may give some temporary relief. But it is not a solution for our health issues. Some times this kind of self medication activity will lead us in to issues life unwanted health issues, side effects and so on. We must be careful while taking medicines by our own or getting it from a pharmacy without the proper prescription. Some people consider pharmacist as their doctor and following their suggestion. But the pharmacist don't know about your health condition, s/he will give some medicine to cure your problem temporary. But it is not a permanent solution. We must try our maximum to avoid this kind of self medicating activities and follow the doctor's suggestion and advice. Always go for a health check up while you are not feeling well and follow the doctor's prescription to get well.
