Did we come from Apes?

The theory of Evolution states that we came from apes. What do you think about this? If we did come from apes, then how can Christians adapt this theory into their religion? Your thoughts?

The popular/common meaning of the word 'theory' refers to something which has not been proven. Scientists use the word in quite a different way to describe something which is a fact but which doesn't have a law or a set of laws which define and control it. (Scientists would call an unproven observation a 'hypothesis').

What is your point? I know what the word theory means, and that is what evolution is, no matter how you try and spin it.

There's no 'spin'. Most people misunderstand what is meant by the 'Theory of Evolution'. I posted this paragraph to see if it would post. I was then going to post more but MyLot went down
Here is the rest:
Darwin and others proposed that all life on the planet has evolved into different species by a process which is now called evolution. At the time, it was considered controversial because many still believed that the world was literally created in 7 days and that each species was created separately and uniquely. Nobody with any intelligence would seriously believe that today! The discovery of DNA in the 1950's led to the science of genetics and gave us an understanding of the basic principles of evolution - that, with each successive generation, DNA may be slightly modified so that nearly all individual animals and plants are, in a certain sense, unique. In the short term, of course, it is not possible to see new species emerging but when we look back a long way in time - far longer than any human can remember - we can see this happening quite clearly. Our distant ancestors, like those of many different species, were different from us and, if you go back far enough - several million years - it is possible to see from the few fossils which have survived and also from the way that our genes are arranged, that humans and apes had a common ancestor.
For me, this doesn't contradict the Bible at all. It still remains the Word of God - though NOT the 'words' of God (which it never was and was never thought to be by those who wrote it!). The fact of evolution does NOT show that life was not created and designed by God. Quite the reverse! It shows that creation is not something that happened once and was finished but that it is a continuous process. The Bible story of Creation is not wrong: it is merely a story, as one would tell to children, which explains in simple language the order in which things happened.

since the bible was not made for children I disagree with this. Evolution is a theory as it is not proven. And there is a huge gap in what the bible tells and what evolution tells. People that try to adapt both, just drive me crazy.

Hi Lmfisher...
I don't know...I am not a christian!Maybe we can say that evolution had happened(in eden) before they were banished.
I am a hindu, according to Hinduism god has incarnated as fish, turtle, hedgehog, lion, and then man.I think it resembles evolution of life...sea creature, amphibian, then mammals...maybe its just a coincidence and its just a vague interpretation. Also in Ramayana, many Apeman army helps Lord Rama to bring back Sita.HMMMM.....
Better if we don't mix Science with Religion.it will make nonsense, religions were made with good intentions, they shouldn't be scrutinized !!!

The conclusion is that nobody will ever know for sure. And this I can accept. But for someone to say that they know and say it is fact, really angers me.

I wasn't speaking of you. I do indeed think that all religions are equal, as none of them have proof, nor does evolution.

Despite that science thought us about the evolution of man, and even in our school. For me I don't believe that we came from apes, unless I saw that I evolved in man then that is the time that maybe I will believe. All I know is that God created us.. That's it no apes,no Darwinian theory.

There is no proof, and no missing link, so as far as it goes it is science fiction. They should not teach a theory in school. I don't see how you can say you don't believe it because you don't see it, then turn around and say you believe in God, did you see him?
