A friend of my mine who are currently in Singapore stop paying his SSS and before he leaves. He has a loan at least Php 2000. Do you have any idea, how I can extend my help to him? And know how much he owes to SSS now? He gave me his SSS Number and Birthdate.

What is SSS? You might want to spell it out so people who are not from your country will understand what you are talking.

I do not think it is under government, is it? I always believed it to be a private company while the government counterpart of it would be GSIS, but maybe I'm wrong.

I know that once a loan is not paid it will earn additional interest and penalty charges over time. So it is best that he/she settles this as soon as possible or it may eat up his future pension when your friend claims it for retirement. I do not know if you can pay for his behalf. I think a family member can negotiate to pay I guess. If he has internet access he could open and register his number there and could actually know how much his loan has grown already. From there he could perhaps try to relay that to his relatives who might help him settle the loan.

The best place to know it would be at the SSS office itself. You could ask for assistance there or inquire about this problem. I'm sure they will be willing to help you and your friend out on this. Good luck!

it is possible that the loan amount already ballooned to something big. I also have a loan at Pag ibig which is payable for 2 years, I got about 3 thousand pesos for my 1st loan and I computed that after I pay it monthly for 2 years it amounted to around 5 thousand. Now i am planning to loan in pag ibig too because I need the money. better contact SSS on your friends behalf so that you will really know.

You need to register your friend with SSS online inquiry. You will need his email address to do this. After filing for registration, SSS will send a password which can be used for the online inquiry. From what I remember, you will also need the SSS number of his last employer. For more details on how to access the online inquiry, log on to www.sss.gov.ph which is the official website.

Well i believe that loan already incurred interests and penalty charges, better go to SSS and ask for it but you must have an authorization letter from your friend. He could pay for it as a whole, if it is that big he could apply a loan condonation where members are given chances to pay for the loan slowly.... but i believe he could afford it as he in singapore and must be earning quite well.
