I read the following article with a bit of disbelief that a country like Iran could be so stupid as to thumb their noses at the US and other world superpowers. Then again, considering who we have in the whitehouse it may not be as risky as all that. The article is here: http://m.foxbusiness.com/quickPage.html?page=32811&content=75698489&pageNum=1 Your thoughts or criticisms ?

The link doesn't go to an article, so I can only make an educated guess at what you are referring to. I presume you are talking about their recent missile tests and their threat to launch said missiles at U.S. targets in the region if we decide to attack them. Now tell me, what exactly is "stupid" about promising to defend yourself and retaliate if attacked? I'm not saying Iran is run by a bunch of really awesome folks, not by any stretch of the imagination. But all of their threats thus far have been in response to threats and actions by us and other nations, such as embargoes, threats of block-aid and threats of military attack. You cannot expect any nation to sit with it's mouth shut under such threats and actions. We would under no circumstances do so, so how can we call them out on the same? Like them or not, they are a sovereign nation with every right to defend themselves. Who are we to tell them to sit down, shut up and let us trash talk and threaten to attack them and feel like we have no reason to expect retaliation? This is pure empirical arrogance on the part of our government.

http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/12/bachmann_vs_the_fact-checkers_did_iran_threaten_nuclear_attack_on_us.html When a madman speaks, listen. He's said it over and over, the mullahs and Ayatollah's have said it over and over. So, why aren't we listening?

Again I ask, what is "stupid" about threatening to retaliate against a nation that is threatening to attack you?

I take exception to your statement that America threatened first. I would ask, what is wrong with America letting Iran know we will defend OURSELVES as well?

It sounds like a North Korean tactic to get what they want. It usually works for North Korea. Of course, they're usually just wanting food. I think this is a test to see how far they (Iran) can push the rest of the world.

I remember someone who made that same mistake and is now pushing up daisies because of it. Let's see, what's his name oh yeah Saddam Hussein. He also thought the US was bluffing but there was a different attitude in Washington back then.

To better understand where Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's head is at you need to understand his worldview. Iranian President Mahmoud’s Ahmadinejad’s mystical pre-occupation with the coming of a Shiite Islamic messiah figure – the Mahdi – is raising concerns that a nuclear-armed Islamic Republic could trigger the kind of global conflagration he envisions will set the stage for the end of the world. http://www.wnd.com/2006/01/34221/ In a videotaped meeting with Ayatollah Javadi-Amoli in Tehran, Ahmadinejad discussed candidly a strange, paranormal experience he had while addressing the United Nations in New York last September. He recounts how he found himself bathed in light throughout the speech. But this wasn’t the light directed at the podium by the U.N. and television cameras. It was, he said, a light from heaven. He will use a nuclear weapon against Israel. Unless Israel strikes first to prevent it.
