Last saturday, we have installed our Smartbro Home Internet Connection. Instead of using the canopy antenna, we were installed with their new outdoor Wimax because using antenna could not find the right connection due to congested network in our place. This is their new homebased product. However, upon connectingn last night, we find very hard or slow internet connection. There are also times that there are no internet connection at all. How about you mylotters have you experience the same? Who among you have already this Wimax Outdoor connection? Thanks for sharing.

I didn't try this one yet as I am using a canopy from Smart now via their Smart bro service, but if I did and experience the same problem as yours I would definitely be complaining to them as soon as possible. If there's one thing I can't stand besides a slow computer, that is a slow internet connection.

I already called the ISP, Smart regarding this matter. I was asked to observe the connection for 24 hours if the same problem will occur. I don't know if slow connection can be associated with the bad weather today.

So, how did it go? I hope it's okay now. Otherwise, get a refund and find another ISP.

I am using smartbro (canopy type) for 5years already and never I have encountered problems of slow connections. But I have a neighbor who got smarbro the WIFI type and he said that it su*ks, they got very slow connection and sometimes no connection at all, he plans to end his contract with smartbro and switching to PLDT. For you, I suggest you insist on having the (canopy type) smartbro.

Maybe you are at the place near the connection site or the signal is really good. I think the WIFI they are using is the indoor one. It is really not recommended as of now because there are only limited areas coveering indoor wimax. What they installed to us is the outdoor type. It is the same as the canopy one.

That could be a possible reason for having a fast connection. hehehe

haha, I thought about you said, and Im surprised that the connection site for smartbro in our area was just one block away and maybe thats the reason for our fast connection :)

I've been from lots of IP's except this new Sun Connection which they said it is good..( but I don't know how true..). Smart Bro was the best for me compared to other providers maybe it depends on the location. What I am using right now is my dsl. They are in promotional offer now, free installation. You have your own free landline same time enjoying their service in your net. They have an excellent modem since they have wi-fi you can use if you have another unit or if you have android cellphone. As of now, that is am enjoying right now. Try it my friend am sure you will like. But, the only problem if your location has no cable installation yet. You will be the one to pay all the cable length they will be using on your connection... Try to call my dsl office.. Good Luck Mobhomeir here 070412 1418hrs

You are right, dsl is the besst but the main problem is if they have already cable lines in our place. I think, not yet. We used the samrtbro since ost of our neighboorrs are using it. However, during the installation, they can locate the signal but seems to be congested. So they tried the wimax homebased outdoor. according to the contractor, we are the sixth household to be installed by them. I was hesitant at first since I thought I am going to pay additional cost, but nothing at all. Just with what we have applied. No additional payment. Good day!

Mobhomeir, is their promo over? I saw something online that it's only offered until June 17, 2012. I'm using witribe, connection is fine but I want to do a home based project for 140 per hour rate and they require a steady internet connection like PLDT myDsl. Wifi or broadband are not considered. If you guys can help me with rates and speed offered by internet service providers out there I'd appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

it's nice that you started a discussion about this. i have a smartbro and globe tattoo stick as well but none of them work because they can't get any signal here. now that you mentioned this, i'll inquire about it. can you tell me how much it costs?
• Philippines

Sticks really depends on the signal on the place you are located. Howeve, it is better becuase you can use it everywhere, provided that there is signal. You may try to inquire at there service centers. I got mine with their promo which runs until the end of this month. Try to visit their site and get some idea about it. Cost? it is just the same as the canopy type home-based wireless connection. Just with a different antenna. However, upon applying, a service technician wil go to your area and check whether you have a strong signal for the antenna.

I'm still using the canopy type antenna for my computer but I think time will come that the newer version will be more preferred in the future. As you have said, you are using now the Wimax by smart which to your surprise does not serve for what it should be. Maybe it just need some adjustment, I know asking for techs to inspect it would take time because it happened to me too many times. Just be patient in calling the techs service.

Yes, maybe you need some upgrade in the future to maximize the service given by smart. As of now, the connectgion seems to be fine. Thanks for the response.

Right now I'm using PLDT DSL so this is the first time I've heard of the Wimax Outdoor. Though my in laws had the Smart Connection before using the canopy antenna before but they also switched to PLDT DSL due to the connection problem. Are you still having problems with your connection right now? Have you thought it could be a location issue?

The canopy type has the location issue. But when they used to install the wimax outdoor, it gets a good signal. For now, the connection is good and I haven't experience a problem yet.

hi there asdomencil! i am using smartbro stick and it is kind of fast. I am satisfied with it and I only have to load it and use it when I am able to have time. Although the loading process is kind off expensive (P50 for 24 hour unlimited internet) I am satisfied with it nevertheless

We used to think to have the stick for smartbro before. The prepaid one, but since my wife had a mini-business, we choose to have the plan so that she can check online anytime if there are orders from her. Also, we initially planned to get a prepaid stick and a plan, but we haven't got the prepaid since it will not be use anymore once we have the homebased plan.

I have my globe tattoo prepaid stick and there are also a time that is very slow in traffic during Sundays. You could try to make an experiment with your wimax in one week if what time and day the connection is very slow, slow, fast and fastest. It is amazing if you found the answers and you can understand better how wimax works.

I think sundays will be he slowest internet connection since there are many people staying in their household making internet surf. For now, I thik the connection is quite alright. It will be going to be on its first week on monday. Maybe that time I can already know what day will be the slowest connection. perhaps, during weekends.

We are using the SmartBro canopy. Internet connection used to be very slow especially when there are three of us browsing the net all at the same time. I called customer service several times to complain until they got tired of entertaining my complaints that they sent a team of technicians to see what is wrong. The SmartBro technicians changed the height and angle of the outdoor antenna and the connection has become faster. My neighbor who has been enduring the poor connection has also changed SmartBro connection to Wimaxx and seems satisfied with it.

Our conenction seems to be faster compared the other day and hope that it will stay that way. it is hard to call the service center for they are always saying that try monitoring the connection for 24 hours and call them again about that matter and they will be going to make a report on that. I just hope that the connection will stay the same.
26 Jul 12
No I haven't. I always use a modem for internet connection. It's very easy to use.

I have not heard about Wimax. As you said, it is a new homebased product. I would like to find out about them and how it can be used. Sorry I do not know about.
• Philippines
4 Jul 12
Yes it is the new homebased product from one of the internet service provider here in our country. It is a wireless type of internet connection but fixed at home. Al you need is a router or you can directly connect it with your computer if you are using just one unit of computer. I just don't know if it is available in your country. thanks for the comment

maybe it depends where your location is. we have been through different Internet connection but all has a problem. in smart, i can not connect for a week so we changed our net connection. God bless

You are right it really depends on the location. In our place there are lot of smartbro users. In our houe they ca get signal using the canopy type but it appears to be congested. That is the reason why they changed it to wimax outdoor. it is the newest homebased from smartbro.

Hi, Did you check the Wimax's signal? We use this device in our office and we have a whole lot of them. From what I know they work like a cellphone--I applied for it but Smart said their signal wouldn't reach our place just yet. The other Wimax in our office was faulty and we're having it replaced. Check the signal...if there's a low signal then it's because of your location or maybe a faulty device. You can go and bring your device to their customer support and have it checked.
