Where I live, there is summer school for students who didn't pass their courses during the school year. They retake those courses in the summer time and work harder so they can then get passing grades and move onto the next grade level for the fall. At least this is how it is for grades Kindergarten thru 12. However, as for colleges and universities, there is school year round.

I'd also like to add that I like to spend my summers with family and friends. In addition to that, I enjoy sitting outside reading a good book or doing a word search puzzle.

I always enjoy my summer time because i still do not have a children yet, but two month latter My daughter will be born. I will not enjoy my summer again. That is a parent responsibility, this is a risk i should get to have my little angel. But i am still very happy, i just can not wait the time to i see my little angel born. I will love her with any cost. That is destiny become a parent.

aw that makes me sad. to hear u say that ur summer ends. it doesn't have to. when she is old enough..like more than 6 weeks old. ppl would love to see newborns! dont let other ppl kiss the baby on the face or anything. and if they want to carry him/her make them wash their hands, u dont want ur newborn baby to bring home germs that could potentaully harm him/her. I thought the same thing when i 1st became a parent. but then i started going out shopping and on playdates! and to the park on a stoller ride. she loved that! its great to be happy!

One of the things that I like to do the most during the summer months is to make sure that I have the time to relax and take time out of the activities that I usually do. Because I don't normally get the chance to do this, the summer seems to be the perfect time as it means that I really can relax. I find that I can do a lot with my life during the summer as I don't have anything else to think about then because there is no college or school. My whole family gets a few weeks off and this is good as it means that we can go ahead and plan time to really enjoy ourselves.

Hi there verolop29. I live in North Carolina and some of the school districts do have year around school. Their reasoning behind this is that there are so many students within the area that they have to juggle the students into different sessions just so that all of the students get their education. Some of the larger counties and cities are growing beyond their ability to keep up financially (to build new schools & the space to build them is also not available) or at least that is what they are saying. A few years ago in Wake county (our state capital home) the school district was trying to buy land to build a new school but all of the land available was too expensive for the county/state to buy and build a school on. That is when the press really started for year round schools. I don't live in a county with year round schools and my youngest three are not old enough to go to school yet. My entire year (not just the summertime) is dedicated to keeping my three busy all of the time. Luckily the twins are not old enough to be demanding and want to go here or there but the 2 year old is really into visiting family and he loves to go to the grocery store or shopping. LOL My sister has a pool and we visit her to go swimming, he loves to go see his cousins. Sometimes we go to the park but here lately it has been too hot and humid to do that. We always do free things (can't afford to do anything else). I hope you and your kids have a great summer.

Hi shellyann36! ur story was nice and i enjoyed reading it! it reminded me of my two kids, both girls. one is about to be 7 and a 3 yr old. they always want to do stuff and its always hot and icky. so we make arts and craft things i find in my parenting magazines! i also pretend to be the teacher and i teach them the things i think they will need to learn when they go to school in a few more weeks. i am super excited because this year my husband is going to play the role of the house'wife' while i work lol! we are going to need help because ill be lucky if i get 10$ an hr working full time...so we may have to get assistance for food and for healthcare for our girls. its not somethingi look forward to but i want to give it a try and see how far i can go! i have not been working for the past 7 years so this is kinda big! im sooo glad the school my daughter goes to is within walking distance and we are friends with our neighbors that have school age kids that she can walk with! Hey!! ur not alone with not wanting to do things because of the heat and the not haveing money! we are there too. except this town it boring and hardly nothing to do. sometimes there are events going on at the library which is down the street. we have a little swimming pool that we have under 2 trees. its great because its shaddy and nice and cool, i even get in there with my girls and i feel a little silly doing it becasue the pool is small and im big lol!! we did go on a small vacation to Concan, TX. soo beautifull! i have pictures that u can see..his cousin invited us and all we had to pay was for the gas to get there! everything else was free and we had sooo much fun!!!

No,here in my country,India,we have summer vacation for two months.April and May are extremely hot months here. This year I did not go anywhere during our vacation. There are some family problems relating to disputes over the joint property and we were busy with them.My son was planning to go to a sea beach, but I could not fulfill his wish.Solving our problems is our first priority. So we are waiting for the next year.

I live in Macao, a city in China near Hong Kong. During our summer holiday, we need to go to school until the end of July. Then we always go traveling or find some jobs to earn money. Even though our summer holiday is actually only a month, we still have a lot of fun by participate in lots of activities that are held by government.

The holidays in England are really quite generous. They get a week in february, two weeks at easter,a week the end of may. Then on the 22nd of july till the 4th september for the long summer holiday. Then off again for a week in november then two weeks at christmas. It is a wonder our children ever learn anything. We do have fun with out grandchildren during all the holidays as they come to our house a few days during the summer holidays while my daughter goes to work.We do not have any children at school ourselves anymore so we can suit ourselves. We are going away in our caravan for two weeks in august,We think our youngest son and his girlfriend will be coming with us ,which will be nice.To spend more time with our youngest will be something to look forward to.So yes we do plan our holidays but not like we used to.I used to take my son swimming,on holiday,to the pictures ect to fill up the days.I do hope you have a good time with your little ones.

It is too hot for me in the South African summer which is coming up, and I prefer the warm sun in winter during the day. Even though it can rain cats and dogs and soaking wet, ten minutes later the sun comes out and it is hot.

Since summers are quite unbearable in my state, i prefer going on a long trip to hill stations or to those places where temperature would be minimal in my summer holidays. and this has proved to be very much lucrative for me because by the time we return home its already monsoons in our state. So this is the way how i spend my summers.

Summer means uncomfortable weather to me,it's very hot, sometimes I just don't want to go outside. But I love travelling a lot.If I have a chance to spend my summer in a different place, I want to escape this hot summer somewhere else.

Christmas vacation is only allowed in our country, after new year, school days starts again and that what makes everybody busy. Summer vacation would be from march to may and that is when we can enjoy our family bonding. March would be more like home bonding since our children wants to just sulk in bed all day and kinda sick to go outside. April is more like outdoor activities with relatives. Swimming has been always the bonding. We rent a resort every summer and all of the relatives were there to enjoy and bond with each other. And may is for our family only. Malling, movie dates, concerts and food trip. And that is how we plan and do our summer

I think summers are okay where I live. I can just stand to have so many hot days in a row in the Summer time. Then I couldn't stand it and wish it would end so I just have to stay indoors or hang around places where there is shade. I would try to stay cool by eating some cool foods and drink some cold waters or other liquids to stay hydrated.

Summer hot hot. - Find shade and drink more water.
Summer here is hot with the occasionally thunder storm and rain. After rain , the sun like 2x the revenge and heat wave will happen.Usually summer people stick to the air con mall and only come out at night when things are cooler. Hence summer is just another season where go work and sleep. May sure drink more water eat more fruits and hide under shade wear sun glasses to protect eye.Carefull for eye infection flu and fever too.
