My Foster Dog

Some of you know I'm fostering a dog for a local animal rescue. I've been fostering her for...oh...about 6 months now. I am totally and completely in love with this dog! She is a small dog with a HUGE personality. I know that's a cliche line, but now I see the truth behind it.
I have been learning new things about Tinkerbell in the all months I've had her, she has so many funny personality traits. She literally plays with her food, she can throw her own toys for herself....she is so unique.
I just recently learned that Tinkerbell is a natural swimmer. She doesn't love the water, but she can swim! And she looks cute doing it! Check out this picture I got of her. What do you think?

I might be wrong, but aren't all dogs naturally born swimmers? I mean my Penny and Ciara absolutely hate water, even when the temp goes into triple digits, they'd rather pant than get wet, yet when I picked them up to put them in our pool that is shallow enough they can stand, they both moved their legs to swim.

I'm actually not sure if all dogs are born swimmers, I think that would be interesting to find out though!

Yeah, it would be interesting to find out that not all dogs can swim.

Well, I guess there was some interest in Tinkerbell at the adoption event the rescue had. But Tinkerbell was not there because she as mange (NOT contagious), and she still needs AT LEAST 1 more treatment (in 2 weeks). So the manager told the interested party that they would need to keep up with her treatment and they said they'd call...we'll see if that actually happens or not!

Tinkerbell is adorable and I totally understand your delight. I know you can't think about keeping the little darling but think about her. It will be devastating for her to lose you when the time comes.
I have a cute little rescue pup, Benji. He is nearly always close by me and when I go out and leave him he suffers separation anxiety...he has 2 other dogs, 2 goats and the cat for company so he is really OK. He still remembers where he used to live (his folks have left) and I would hate for him to have to go somewhere else now. The thing is, he is such a cheeky, funny little guy and I love him dearly.

Living in harmony! That's good.
Our animals get along for the most part. Of course we have 1 cat that doesn't like the dogs and will his and slap at them (they run away). But she isn't constantly attacking them every day. So I guess we can say our animals live in harmony too! Haha

Benji is so cute! And so is the little one behind him! Haha peek-a-boo! I love scruffy dogs! Just wish they didn't get so matted!
I really hope she doesn't suffer any anxiety over me not being around if she does get adopted, that's one of my worries. I hope she can adapt to a new home and a new family. I would hate for her to get adopted only to get returned again!
You have goats! I bet they're fun! Haha.
Thank you!

It is very nice of you to adopt a dog. I see your dog brings you happiness and I am glad she has a nice master like you. I am so surprising that your dog can swim. Perhaps this is the nature. How nice it is! It is hot summer now and I am sure she will enjoy swimming.

Well I haven't adopted her, I'm just fostering her until the animal rescue can find someone to adopt her. But I love having her here!
It is really hot here too, over 100 degrees everyday. So yes, I'm sure they appreciate the water cooling them off!

Hi Lil
I remember you talking about Tinkerbell a while ago and I can't believe that no one has adopted her yet because she's so adorable! It's great that you notice all her little personality traits and that will be great to mention if someone comes along looking for a new pup to love.
Who knows, maybe in 8 months she'll still be around when you move, and she can go with you then and you'll be her new mama. I know she won't find a better one. Good luck and she's a real cutie!

Thank you Kash
While I would love to be able to adopt her myself, I am not wishing that she stays "homeless" for that long. So I do try to find her a home, always bringing her to people's attention - but no one ever seems that taken with her. So when I get my own apartment, and if she's still there, it'll be nice to know that I can be the one to FINALLY give her a home.

I'd like to adopt her, but while I'm still in school I'm living at home with family, where we already have 4 dogs, 3 cats, and 4 birds. So it's not really up to me. I do plan on getting an apartment in 8 months - 1 year, but I don't want her to be homeless that long, so I am still avidly trying to find her a home, even though I'll miss her a lot if she does leave me!

I think she's a lucky dog that you foster her. Maybe she'll steal your heart and will become one of your dogs.
My dog also used to play with her food when she was young. She couldn't decide what to do first: to play or to eat? Here's a short movie with Binne playing with her toy inside the food dish: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMxz5wsfJNM&list=UUIyjRQ93F1KRo35t70K9ayQ&index=10&feature=plcp

I'd love to adopt her, but it's not up to me right now (see my response to the first post here).
Haha your dog is so cute!!! Here is my video of Tinkerbell playing with her food, she has one piece of kibble that she is playing with, it might be hard to see haha!
