Since a long I have not send a letter to my friends which I was very used during my school days but after using E-mail I have stopped sending then letters as it is easy, convince and also cheap for me.
Even people uses sending messages through mobile staying in touch with friends, even in celebrations like new year, people using mobile just to send a message.
But everybody will say yes that a letter gives some personal feelings which cant be a mail or sms can give.
so what is your views on this?
do you still send letter or card on celebrations and anniversaries?

Now we are living in the technology world, it is really hard to imagine our life without internet, since internet is playing an important role in each and every field. Even though internet is having lot of benefits, it is having some disadvantages too. Pros and cons are common to every thing, internet is one among them. Due to the mass usage of internet people started to live in the virtual world rather than living in the real world.
Most of the people are interested in spending their time with online activities and turned as internet addicts, this kind of persons reduced their socializing activities in the real world and keep in touch with their friends using the online socializing web sites. Previously people send hand written letters to their friends and beloved persons, now most of the netizens are interested in sending emails which is faster and convenient. In the same way greeting cards are replaced with e-cards.
Students are interested in spending more time with online sites and forget about their studies. Kids are interested in playing online games and forget about the outdoor games. Too much of computer and internet usage is not good for health, due to the over computer access some students are in need to wear specs in the childhood days as well as get some unwanted health issues. There is nothing wrong in using computers in an organized manner, but too much of usage will lead us to face unwanted health issues.

Yes, I am still sending letters and cards to my friends abroad even though e-mail and sms are more convenient and cheaper. For me writing a personal letter in a card or paper adds some extra love and care for the person you going who going to read your letter. Even with my husband I often write a simple messages in a small paper inside his lunch box so that he can read it upon opening the box to makes him smile and happy throughout the day.

Yeah you are absolutely correct. People now a days they are not bothered about writing a letter to anyone anymore. They can easily send a email instead within a few minutes from the comfort of their home. So they don't like to take the extra burden of giong to the post office for posting letters. Plus I think most of the people now a doys don'y even know how to write a letter. They may have forgotten.

I don't write letters either, but I do send greeting cards...
When I was in college, though, I still wrote lecture notes down on note pads or books. But I notice my son never use books anymore; he 'writes' his notes on his laptop. Should I worry that he types so much and forgets how to manually hand write?

Writing using pens and papers are now diminishing due to the convenience of word processors and other related programs. Also the coming of tablets and laptops made writing more incovenient for those gadgets had already replace pen and paper as medium. They can be carried anywhere and can be immediately saved anytime.
But i still do write manually for i can appreciate my writings more with my handwriting.

Well, as long as we continue to learn to write when we are young... I really don't think anyone could ever forget how to write. Of course, in a morsern era like this ( if you are reading this for a decade later.. Yes yes, I know your flying car is cooler than our boring land cars) everyone would prefer to use technologies to write. But like you said.. writing a letter will always have this personal touch feeling and people do write less letters...but they didn't FORGET how.
