My partner suffers quite badly from hay fever.. she coughs and splutters and it’s not a pretty site lol.
On numerous occasions during spring and summer, we have had to cut our days out short due to her feeling so awful from her hay fever. And to be honest, anyone who knows northern Ireland knows it isn’t exactly the warmest of places.
But then again is hay fever attributed to heat? Or just pollen? I have heard a few different things about hay fever, one of which is that the warmer the climate, the worse the hay fever. Which is plausible. But maybe that’s only because more flowers grow in warmer climate.
Then I have heard it is grass and plant related only. And I suppose there are plenty of fields in Ireland.. but we live in the city so that doesn’t really explain an awful lot.
She has tried tablet after tablet, and as of yet is still to come up with any good remedy for her sneezing fits.
I guess it’s something she’s going to have to live with, unless anyone can offer an remedies?
Do you suffer from hay fever? What do you think of this?

I've two suggestions for her. The first is to get hold of some locally produced honey an take a spoonful each day. I know you're in the city, but someone, somewhere must keep bees. The bees will have been working with the same pollens which she is exposed to, which is why it needs to be locally produced.
The second idea is to make a strong tea from plantain and drink a cup per day. Plantain grows pretty much everywhere on compacted ground so I imagine you'd find it quite easily in someone's weedy garden or in a park.
We find the hayfever season is at it's worse when the pines are in flower. The roads develop channels then when it rains as there's so much pollen about.

we have that over here too, in the US but its called allergy season. and it only happens to ppl who are sensitive to pollen, and mold. they sneeze and have stuffy nose and watery eyes. my smallest daughter experiences that every year just like her father but not my oldest who is more like me. i think ur right. if u go where there is less polution...

I don't know if there is as much of an allergy season over here, but I know a lot of people suffering from hay fever at the minute. It's horrible lol!

I have always heard that it was an allergy to pollen. Does she sleeps face downward ? I have read a scientist blog saying that it was a main cause of hay fever. The explanation is a bit complex ; to sum up, the parasympathetic nervous system does not work normally in this position and the least dust or pollen irritates the nose and can create a hay fever/allergy.

Mo mo, she doesn't sleep face down. She actually sleeps on her back lol.
It's actually when she's sleeping that it doesn't bother her as much, like I've noticed her breathing etc isn't as heavy.
