Have you ever talked to a rude or sarcastic call center agent?

I once talked to a sarcastic call center agent, it was sad because that agent is also from my country. So I was talking to her about an enquiry of my order online in english. At first she was talking so sweetly and nicely. When I recognized her accent, I asked if she was my Kabayan ( fellow country woman/man ), she answered yes, but in a sarcastic way. As I continue talking to her I tried to talk to her using our language but then she didn't talk the same language as I was, she clearly understood because she was responding correctly. So I went back to talking in english. I can't believe someone can be a racist to someone who came from where she came from. I mean she didn't say anything wrong about our country or me but I sensed it in her voice and by the way she changed the way she was talking, when I asked her. Was it wrong for me to ask the obvious or talk in our own language?

ah yeah. I have spoken o one or few over the course of time i have been callingthese call centers. Believe it or not its with PLDT that i got the worstexperience ever. People are all sarcastic and unknowledageable of what they are talking about. Even as when i was speaking thwir agents would cut me off and always butt in and interrupt what iwas trying to say. They have got n initiatives too. Our issue has been sitting around for like years with no updates from them!! Their agents dont even show empathy for us and would even bluntly tell you to just call another day as they sstill cannot see what updates they have.

I don't know what's wrong with this people, it's like they became over proud of their profession. Maybe they think speaking english will make them sound very intellegent? I thought before they get their job they are taught how to talk professionally and respectfully.

i worked in call centers myself before and honestly it was all part of the training, even your patience and how to control your voice is part of it.. somehow there are just people who are not fit for the job! he he Most of all they are probably just not happy with their work that whatever concerns brought to them - they don't care at all.

I wouldn't call it rude because if you were employed or have known someone working as a call-center agent, you would know that there's a strict rule that you shouldn't speak any language other than the English language. Further, she could get sanctioned if she did talk to you in your dialect because most of these calls are recorded.
I think she just wanted to save her job and you shouldn't feel that she was being rude or something.
Though I did come across a call center agent who was rude. She was a call center agent for a collections company and the previous owner of my mobile number owed them some sort of a huge amount and they kept on calling and pestering me that I was hiding the person. I kept on telling her that I didn't know the person and that she should call the telecom and confirm whether or not the number had a new owner. She insisted that I was keeping him safe because I am in love with him! It was pure nonsense and she kept on calling me during work time and she was really harassing me big time. Until finally I was frank and blunt when I told her that it wasn't my problem that the company she was working with was foolish enough to accept a mobile number instead of the real address of the person prior to loaning him money - we all know how quick it is to change mobile numbers these days and then I dropped the call and called my telecom and complained and gave her number and she was blocked from my service and perhaps my company talked to their company about her attitude.
Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

Hi laydee,
I understand her side too but she could have just told me straight if that's the case. I was talking to her in a friendly manner, she doesn't have to talk the way she did, she talked like a child with a tantrum. Since she started talking nicely she could have inform me nicely too that she isn't allowed to speak to me in our own language.
I don't know if I'm judging her or maybe I was just over sensitive by that time. Still it wasn't a good experience for me.
Have a great day :)

Allow me to take your side. I believe arrogant CCA as well as those with bad manners have no right to stay in the call center business. They were trained on what to say and what not to say, so for the sake of callers, behave. You are paid for it and not to monkey around with your customers.
