Pretending is a must? It's just a drill.

We just had our earthquake drill in our office. It is a requirement for us to follow even how urgent is what we are doing, we need to leave it in any way. I worked on the 20th floor so I need to go down by the stairs upon the signal by the conductors. We have this drill completed for almost 30 minutes. Not bad for us, if that could be real thing, I hope we can be saved. Do you have any kind of preparation like this - earthquakes? fires? We need to follow right even it is not the real thing. Correct?

We have fire drills a couple of times a year where I work at and I do think it is important. There are a lot of people that work in a limited area and if they know what to do and where to go in case of emergencies, it can help to ensure their safety if disaster does strike. We actually had a tornado drill once last year. That may be a common practice too now that the weather systems here have become more volatile.

Sounds like a good preparation. I know that in that part, you have tornadoes and staff like that. Is it the same kind of preparation? For us here, we need to settle first within the facility and when we feel that is safe already. We may go down via stairs. Thanks

It is pretty much the same. We all meet outside at the flag pole..during the fire drill...and then group up in our departments so that we can be accounted for. We group in out departments for the tornado drill too but we line up a certain wall in the factory. We are actually told when we are safe to leave the groups.

I think these kind of drills are priceless. If more businesses did them I think there would be less harm caused by desasters.

I have also experience the earthquake drill and we went down through stairs from the 6th floor. WE actually don't passed this because according to the drill officials they saw some who are laughing while conducting the drill. Anyway, I changed company so I don't know now if they already passed the drill. With this new company we had the fire drill that we already passed for I think.

Thanks shylade. It really pays to be prepared at all times. Hope you can have some of the drills there in your new office job.

This is common since I work in the Construction site. Believe me when I say that I find this irrelevant because it is not really followed when emergency actually comes to life. I know we have other more important things to do but we really have to comply.

Yes, we need to follow. Its an exercise for us to be alert and know what to do in case of such dillema.
