I hope it's normal and I guess it's also good for cats? Because my mom recently told me that my cat "zoro" eat dog food. He eat the food of "hachi" our dog. And my cat really like it a lot. He also gain weight.

Khuay sucking down Ole Roy gravy - Khuay loves the gravy from Old Roy dog food. This is one of the times I was able to catch him on camera.
It is normal for cats to eat dog food. I have two Siamese that LOVE dog food and will beg for me to give them some. I've never had a cat that has been harmed by eating dog food, and if you control the amounts that the cat gets he won't get fat. Khuay, the cat in my avatar, loves the gravy from canned Old Roy dog food. He is a real pest when the dog's breakfast and dinner comes. He's even worse when I open a new can of dog food...I have to leave it for him to lap up his fill of the gravy. Because of the fact that your cat is a male, you do need to limit his consumption of dog food since it has higher percentages of certain minerals and bone meal than the cat food. The higher concentrations can cause kidney stones in male cats, which will not only be very painful but also would need to be removed surgically. So, to prevent the stones from possibly forming you should really limit the amount of the dog food that your cat gets. You don't have to totally eliminate his favorite treat, but only give him the dog food as an occasional treat and don't give him too much of it when you do give him the dog food.

You might want to ask your vet if that's okay since I don't think its going to hurt your cat but does your cat gets all the nutrients he really needs because lets face it your cat is eating the food specifically for dogs. Maybe your cat thinks that he is a dog. Poor hachi since his got competition with his food now.

I doubt that it would harm the cat if he got into it once or twice, but I would not let the cat eat dog food all the time. There are different nutrients in dog and cat food, and some of them are pretty important for the animal. Personally I think pets get tired of eating the same food all the time, much like a human does. We feed our dog Kibbles & Bits, but we vary the kind of that food she gets. We have noticed that when she finishes one bag, and starts a new one of the same brand but different variety, she really attacks that first bowl or two of food. I think she just likes the variety, and it does not affect her regularity.

It is completely normal. When you really think about it, the same companies usually make both products and will use some of the same ingredients. There is really nothing to worry about. My animals always eat each others foods and they are healthy animals.
