Tonight I had just gotten into bed and I realized that one of my " bed buddies" hadn't joined us(me and the other cats). I get up and go looking for him.
I get the roomiie looking too. We finally find him AND another cat in a cabinet that the roomie had opened briefly this morning!!!
Pong went straight to the catbox and Nef to the water bowl.
I'm glad I missed him because both of these cats are very quiet.
Have you ever "mislaid" a pet like that?

I often lose Banjo. I will go looking for him - in cupboards, on chairs tucked under the table, in one of the book shelves, under things. There's no way he can be outside but I figure he must have slipped out when I wasn't paying attention.
Then he will just appear, stretching and yawning from wherever he's been snoozing, and start looking cute and hungry.

When I first got Shakti 10 years ago, he hid in dark kitchen cupboard, and I couldn't find him for the entire day. My Mom ended up finding him in there. lol

I was house sitting for a couple from my church and they had a dog and a cat. One night I noticed I had not seen the cat for quite some time so I went looking around. I thought I heard a 'meow', but I couldn't find the source. It took me ten minutes to find her. I had opened up the linen closet a couple of hours prior, and she sneaked in there without me realizing it. She was pretty ticked off at me.

It must be fun trying to keep tabs on your bunch through the day and night..and it's nice that it's 2 of the quiet ones you noticed being AWOL!

I had a Boston Terrier that would sometimes get out of the house and most of the time when she did she would take off and head for the neighbors yard. She also didn't come when she was called which would be a bit unsettling because the road was a bit busy and was a shortcut to even busier roads. The trick to catching her was that she liked to ride in the car. One time she got out around my mother when she was going to get her hair done. My mother didn't notice. Awhile later, my neighbor's daughter was at the door with the dog. The dog had jumped into the neighbor's when my neighbor's wife was getting ready to go somewhere. I don't think she was all that happy. Another time she got out when I forgot to latch the gate for the fenced in area outside the back door. When I realized she was gone, I couldn't see her anywhere. I drove around the block a few times and was ready to give up when I saw her across the street visiting with a neighbor.

I picked up a greyhound wandering in the middle of a major street in the middle of the night that way. She didn't have a tat so we didn't know how to turn to. I took her to my vets who checked less obvious places for tats or identifying marks. They finally found a home for her too, a man who had a small (non-racing) greyhound and wanted a companion for her.

I am surprised they didn't make enough noise that you would have found them earlier. I know mine would have.

A week or so ago, I was wondering where Harmony was spending her days (it's been very hot lately). She wasn't in her usual places. I happened to look under the bed, and there she was. Why, I don't know, but she went there for the next few days. I would think she'd be on top of the bed where she could catch a breeze from the window. The last couple days, she's been hiding under the raspberries. That at least makes sense -- shade and cool ground.
But you and I both know, you never question a cat's motives.

I can't say I've had a cat stuck in an odd spot without noticing. If my cats are stuck in a room they meew to get out. Of course the worst is when hubby closes the bedroom door and a cat wants to get in / out in the middle of the night ug!

It was rare for Sleepy to not be under foot, but I did lock him in the clothes closet once. He went to sleep in there but let me know he wanted out when he woke up. His meow was usually very soft, but it got loud that time.

Yes, I have on more than one occasion. Once, one of my feline nieces got stuck in the basement; thankfully, her sister made such a fuss that I finally figured out what the problem was. I think that I may have heard a grumble from the cat who alerted me regarding the situation, since I did take a painfully long time to figure out what she was telling me. *Sigh* We humans can be really slow sometimes.

Oh dear! Poor kitties should have spoken up and gotten somebody to open up the cabinet earlier for them. lol I've only got one cat to mislay, and I have shut her in the pantry by accident. Luckily I was still making food and so I opened up the door and she came charging right out! My mom shut her in the bathroom by accident once and I didn't know until I got home and went looking for her. When I heard her meowing and let her out, she went straight to the litter box. Mess averted!
