Rosario is 104 years old. She looks remarkably healthy and seems very positive. What is her secret for living healthy for so long? She says that she stays away from the doctors and watches what she eats. It might be her positive attitude and the feeling that she is really needed that keeps her going strong. She cares for her daughter who has dementia and Rosario is with her all the time. She keeps talking to her to keep her mind more alert and takes her with her wherever she goes. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/06/15/rosario-schielzeth_n_1600327.html Why do you think Rosario is in such a good shape? What are you doing to keep at good health?

I am sure the reason Rosario is in such good shape is that she has led a healthy lifestyle.

Yes, that must be one reason, and her positive view of life is probably another. And she is needed.

A healthy lifestyle includes mental and spiritual health. Health of mind as well as body, which has to include some amount of exercise.

I agree too much reliance on doctors does no good at all. Except for urgent cases, I prefer chinese herb medicine, which helps overall balance your health. Food selection is important, as well. At my age, I have to find things to do to keep body busy and mind happy.

I think that being needed is a major factor in our health and longevity. Rosario has someone who needs her, whom she loves and serves as best she can. That will keep someone motivated, energized and high spirited. Have you ever noticed that after many old people are sent to a nursing home they decline and become ill if they aren't already? It's because they feel useless and unloved. Rosario will be neither as long as her daughter needs her so I think she might live awhile longer, alert and productive. I'm glad that they have help, though, especially people to drive them around and help around the house.

Yes, we should visit our old friends and relatives in nursing homes regularly. They need to be loved and know that someone thinks of them. It is so good to see Rosario and her daughter together - I would probably give both coconut oil if I could. It has helped for Alzheimer in some cases. I hope they have the chance to test it..

I'm trying to do exactly what Rosario is doing. If it works for her then it might work for me too. I also want to stay as healthy as possible.

I am sure it will work, and you, my friend have shown so much positive thinking - we are all lerning a lot from you.. The volunteer work you are doing means also so much for those you encourage. Just keep doing what you do and you will stay healthy!!

I think that is awesome. I saw this news report somewhere during the week. She obviously is keeping her mind and body active by having to take care of her daughter. She probably knows subconsciously that no one else will be able to do the job as well if she goes, so she is prepared to stick around. Also eating lots of fresh nutritious foods would help, but having a youthful and happy mindset also play a big part.

Yes, I believe we need both, a positive mindset and healthy food. And it means a lot that someone needs us.
