What to do with the whole chickens?

Last week Walmart had a pack of 2 whole chicken on sale for $10.00. I picked one pack up, and now debating what I should do with them. I like the skin on the outside (I know probably not the healthiest, and my body usually hates me after). I like it crispy, and the chicken meat soft and juicy. I am planning on bringing and cooking one while petsitting, and the other at home. The one at home I can BBQ, but while petsitting I dont know how theit bbq works.

Maybe a simple rosemary roasted chicken? Then, you could turn the leftovers into a beautiful chicken salad--a little mayo, some garlic, carrots. That would be one of the easiest ways of preparing the chicken.

That actually sounds very delicious, and using the left overs as well. I may do that as well, I havent had chicken salad in awhile.

Bake it with the skin on as that keeps the moisture in the meat. When done, pull it off and don't eat the skin! Everyone is happy! You can get those baking bag things (Reynolds I think) and bake the chicken in the bag in the oven and it comes out so moist and tender and tasty.. and no mess! Just trash the bag, nothing to scrub clean! That is the only way I will bake a chicken!

I love the chicken skin, and will pick it off to eat it. I will have to look for these bags, Ive never heard of it before.

Here's a simple suggestion, you can marinate the whole chicken with lemon and salt for 1 hour or 2 hours. Stuff the chicken with some chopped onions, rosemary leaves, red bell pepper. Then put inside the oven and cook it at 275 degrees for 2 hours or until it is done. Or you can also use a turbo broiler, the skin will be a lot crispier when cooked in a broiler.

Bake it in the oven till it turns brown and the outside is crispy. the meat should be seasoned very well in order to have the meat with some kind of flavor. good luck..

Sounds like you think you have to fry the chickens. I use whole chickens in soups and stews. Chicken stew is very good if you have a quality recipe. Whole chickens also make a good fricasee.

oh yeah. That's a great idea. Why not try having bbq and you can actually steam the whole chicken, just put some onions and ginger on the inside or other veggies that will enhance the aroma of the chicken.
