Hi,
I hope that one day I will build a dream home for myself, but many of you might have constructed your dream home.
I want to know that how do you design your home? One can go to architect and ask him to design the home for you. He will give you the layout and various other doors windows details. Then you may ask some contractor to accomplish the job for you or you have to do the construction under your own survelience.
Do you refer a civil engineer to do the necessary analysis for the strength of the various components, I mean the design of the various components like beams, slab etc.
What procedure you followed?

Thanks for your kind wish, and I wish the same for you. I am interested to meet some people here from the Civil Enngineering profession because I have my bachelor's degree in Civl Engineering and I worked in Hydro Electric Projects for two years in the execution department. There is a design cell for every construction project and I think it comprises of both the Architect and Civil Engineers.
If you want to construct a house then first you have consult an Architect to make a layout plan of it and then you may consult a Civil Engineer if the structure is feasible or not.

I don't have much experience with building plans but I remember I prepared three drawings of different houses. You need to find an registered Architect to get that loan approved.
If you need any online help then you can ask for it from me, maybe I can help you. good luck to you.

If you have an architect design it and others build it, you haven't actually built your own home. You have simply hired people to build a house to your specifications.
When I finally have my little piece of land, I fully intend to take an active role in the building process. Then, I can truly say that I have helped to build my own home. I won't be able to do everything myself, but I can play an active role in the construction.

What do you prefer to live at? A wooden house or a concrete one? I've been working in a construction/ industrial firm. We do wooden houses that is built in Japan. Many ideas came to my mind and you should take a look at some magazines to give you more idea. I have a dream house too but I don't have a capability to have it. I do not live in my dream house but I am with my family my dream people to live with. And I think that is the most important.

If it is a wooden house or a concrete house that will depend on various factors. One has to consider their budget, the life of the structure which will depend on the design of the structure.
If you live in an earthquake prone area then again you may prefer a wooden house because it will be less costly and if gets damaged it will save you the damage both of the life and money.

Hello sanjay91422
I always dream having my own house. Well I want a two-story house with touch of nature.:)I think it's better to refer a civil engineer to do the important analysis. It might be risky if I fail to consult the expert.:(
