every time i had chopsticks i don't actually use it. i just play with it. or make is a display or a collection because they are quite nice to have but hard to use. i don't know if the chinese here in our country are still using chopsticks. it seems they are already using spoons or forks. i think those chinese who grew up here don't use that in their homes anymore although they observed their other traditions.

I'm an American without the least bit of Asian heritage, and I love using chopsticks. They offer more precise control over certain foods than a fork does; at least, I feel like they do. I don't know why I'm so comfortable using chopsticks. I didn't grow up using them. I taught myself how to use them when I was in college. However, I found it to be easy from the first time I used them and have always been sort of confused when people say that chopsticks are hard to use. My boyfriend, for instance, swears that he "can't" use chopsticks. I don't understand it. *Shrugs*

i think if you find it hard then it is hard to learn it. if you found it easy then i think because maybe because of your hand is small and makes it easy to handle the chopstick easier. i just find it hard to use. although i can still eat with chopsticks. but it takes more time though.

We use chopsticks! I was born in the US, but my cultural background is Japanese. So I grew up using chopsticks - and still use them today!! Certainly spoons and forks are easier for kids to use, but my kids are getting better at it (like anything - it takes practice). It's kind of strange for me to eat certain Japanese or Chinese foods with a fork and spoon - I need my chopsticks - hee hee!! How do you display your chopsticks? I always end up using mine no matter how nice they look - I have stainless steel ones that I often use for cooking!
