I was reading lifehacker early this morning while lazily lying in bed this Saturday. One tweet by the website talked about how to keep stink away from room/kitchen while cooking fish. It was amazing but they said that when you put peanut butter while cooking the fish in the pan (at the side of the pan - well away from the fish) it would actually absorb the smell altogether. I have yet to try it out but it sounds legit after researching about it and finding that there are a lot of sites/people that blogged about it. I have also discovered through their site that peanut butter has a lot more other uses. Some of which is that it's good for taking off gum from hair and clothes, better in attracting mouse than cheese in a mouse-trap, great for shaving plus moisturizes naturally, and it's actually good for dogs (and when you want them to take vitamins or stuff you can give it to them inside the ball of peanut-butter). It was amazing really. It was a sure eye-opener for me. Have you tried using peanut-butter for taking the stink off frying fish? If you would try it, do tell me though. I have yet to try it myself. Have you found any other uses from things you didn't know could be used for more than how we use them? Do share! Thanks and Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

I usually put some slice of lemons in the kitchen before frying the fish and open all the windows for good ventilation. So far lemons really a big help to keep stink away from kitchen. Other thing I noticed that my husband lighten a scented candles before he fry the fish and very effective too. Using peanut butter is very new to me but I will try it to know the effects. Thanks

Lemons are nice too. But they're so expensive here in my country. But they do taste well with the fish altogether. hehe.. thanks for the response! Have a great MylOt experience ahead!

That is one thing i might try that peanut butter thing, but then i never had that much problem with fish as our kitchen is well ventilated the smell does not stay.. and i do use coal ( uling) as it absorbs the smell too, i also use candles. but pretty interesting. nice one.

Ah, we use coals too inside the refrigerator or some baking soda. Candles and vinegar we use when a room is being painted on or newly painted. Do you use charcoal while frying fish? Does it really take out the smell? Our kitchen is open as well, but it would surely be nice if it does work since while cooking fish you could really smell that dinner is fish! hahahaha.. Thanks for responding!

I think the best way to kill the smell of cooking fish is, boil water with vinegar. I have been doing it for years. My grandmother was the one to tell me that... and it works! To every letre of water use a cup of vinegar. I may try the peanut butter, but not sure...

So while you fry fish you also boil some water with vinegar? Hmmm... That has a point.
