Are They for Keeps?

I have a one year and two months old daughter and since birth we have already purchased hundreds of clothes for her. For those once that are not fit to her anymore we usually give them to some of our friends who used to drop by our home and asked if we do have old clothes that we are giving for those children in the shelter. They are not actually old but those are the ones that my daughter has grown up with. But there are some that I don't want to give away, I just want to keep them.
I really don't know why but I have a kind of feeling of attachments to some of those dresses especially those once that she wore on her 1st day, on her dedication and on some especial occasions. I don't know, but maybe there will come a time that I would finally decide to give them away.
I know that there are mother's here too,so what are the personal belongings of your children that you don't want to give away or throw in anyway? Would you mind sharing it to the mom's out here, busy earning and at the same time learning?

Same here. I still kept my son's outgrown clothes on his closet. Like you, I have this sentimental value that I won't let go of them still. I still have some of his overall, baby shoes, caps and jumpers. I have nephews younger than him so that I know I will give them that too. But not now, haha...

Hi, Shello, I understand what you feel. I was like you when my daughter was a baby (a long time ago) but I kept only a few things to help me remember those days. And it may sound strange for you but 25 years ago we used to exchange little kid's clothes and other stuff between friends and relatives. Everything was so expensive! And, as you know, some clothes that are not fit to your child are almost new. So we had this tradition to help each other first and then donate to the children in the shelter.
But I still keep somewhere a little blanket for my baby that I knitted myself

That's right, dear. Maybe, I'll just keep those pretty little dresses that she wore on her dedication and her 1st birthday, those were my favorites. Me and my friends, we use to exchange clothes for our babies, too. But only very few, most of what we have are those purchased especially for my baby.
Good for that you have knitted something for your baby. I don't know how to knit even ;(

both my daughters have a baby box. its just a cardboard box with stuff like clothes and blankets that were especially purchased or made for them. my mom kept some of my baby clothes and both my daughters wore the little dresses that she saved. now they will be able to that with their kids. i think it is a cute tradition to get into, personally.

I do not have any children or a spouse yet, but I believe that Yes, These things are for keeps, These things are not just things but rather memories, memories of a special part of your life. I do not think that your daughter would give or throw these things away, for these are a part of her.

I know exactly your feeling because I felt that before. It's hard to let go of the this you brought for your child. But soon you will realize that there are other people in need of that stuff. I suggest that you should donate it and keep some pair for remembrance.

Hi there. Yeah, I have already given out some and I'm going to give out some by tomorrow. But I still have some few clothes that I still don't want to let go. Anyways, sooner or later, the time will come when I will be willing to give it to someone who is also special to me or someone who is close to me maybe the first daughter of my sister would do. LOL!
