Banana peels for whitening teeth?

So I was going through some youtube videos the other day trying to find out how to do some new techniques for nails, actually it is called water swirl nail polish. I found some ideas but have to get the right kind of polish. But anyways, that is not what the discussion is about, I came across accidentally on a way this girl was saying and demonstrating on how to use the peel of a banana to whiten teeth. Have you ever tried that or heard of it? It can't hurt, can't it? I mean I will do it as long as I see a result or two. I like bananas so it isn't a problem to me. If there is no results I won't do it anymore with the peels, rubbing a piece of the peel on them that is like the video showed.

Hello NailTech I imagine that the best way to see the effects of teeth whitening using banana peels is to wear the banana peels backward, on our teeth. You know, so that the white underside of the banana peel is greeting the world.

No, you need not wear them, just rub them on the enamel of the teeth, in the front anyways, like she was demonstrating. I wonder if I'd have the guts to be on a youtube vid demonstrating it if it didn't work though.

eeeeekkkk! as banana is one of the foods that the psychoartist has an aversion too, along with bologna, this whole idea and discussion is giving me the creeps! i did laugh out loud at pageturner's suggestion, however...i have used hydrogen peroxide, just swish it in your mouth for a few seconds, perhaps a minute and spit back out...i do it before i brush teeth and that takes the weird taste away but your teeth feel very clean and are whiter, temporarily...

LOL, yes some people do have aversians to things. I'm sorry if it creeped you out. I won't say banana again, lol. yes, I did laugh at pageturner's response too although I didn't tell him, he is rather funny sometimes. hydrogen peroxide now I have an aversian too cause I tried to do that awhile back and ever since my gums on that side of my mouth have felt alittle "wierd" and besides some people think hydrogen peroxide is now even bad for even using on cuts and such.

HI, I like bananas. In fact I had two earlier today. But I just came across your post and so I cannot try out this remedy for teeth whitening right now. I would buy some bananas from the market tomorrow and try this out. Thanks for sharing this unique method with us. It might actually help many.

It seems white teeth are all the rage right now. I don't know if they will get your teeth glow in the dark white but perhaps a few shades brighter, so if anyone tries it and has some results I would like to know too. I love bananas, the most I can eat is one per day, but I have heard eating two in the morning helps to loose weight. They are like 150- 200 calories a banana though so not sure how that works.

Well, there are alot of people with such white teeth that it seems they will glow in the dark, obviously it is not natural white. I don't recall Happy Dent, was it a toothpaste? Then there are those light up contraptions I have seen that people can put in their mouths and it lights up white in the dark.

It is interesting, I try everything even if it wounds ridiculous, haha. But luckily I know when to draw the line at being in danger. I won't do anything dangerous that is. I only had some older nail polish hanging around, cause I didn't buy any in so long, so maybe thats why it didn't work. I have to get an idea on which ones to use and it should work better.

I used some pretty new nail polish and i still didnt get it too work. Yeah i dont think there is anything wrong with trying new things as long as its not dangerous. Have you ever tired hair chalking? Just curious.

Oh wow, not even the pretty new polish worked? They make it look so easy on the videos. I wonder if they mention the brand of polish they use, hopefully it isn't something really expensive. It looks pretty liquidy and is supposed to be able to make circles of colours within the colors, then take the toothpick and pull in the sides, and so forth. I like the part where you swab everything up that is excess, I'm surprised that worked, it was about the only thing that did, LOL. No, I never tried hair chalking, I think that would be messy, wouldn't it? And maybe damage the hair. I'm not sure of all the details on it but it looks cool. I'm too old at 49 to try everything like that but once in awhile things get my curiosity up. I would sure make a darn cool mom or grandmother though for a girl thats interested in this stuff, thats for sure, LOL.

I also have not heard of this before and it seems a little odd. Does it explain what it is about a banana peel that causes our teeth to whiten? Maybe it's a prank to see how many people will try it out and they will get a laugh out of it :D Will you be trying it out? If so you can share your results with the rest of us haha :D

No she didn't say what it was about the banana peel that caused teeth to whiten, I looked quickly at the comments but not everything but maybe it's in the comments section and I overlooked it. It could be a prank too, who knows. LOL. I did try it out a few times but so far don't notice to many results, but I've tried even crazier things I'm sure for other "problems", etc.

It must be a joke if you're not getting results. Might be worth googling to see if there are other articles about this type of thing. In fact I might go do that and see what crazy things are out there haha

Never heard of it too. I was just wondering if that's the reason why monkeys have white teeth? Just kidding.

Oh look here, new information. Sounds interesting. I don't know if I should also give it a try, but maybe I will. I don't think it can hurt.

Nope can't hurt, but I use a peel that's just been taken off the banana, not one thats been sitting around for awhile. Otherwise it sounds too gross for me to try, so use a fresh peel. Let me now if you tried it and if anything worked for you as well. I'm curious to know any results from anyone, so type them here if you found it works!

In regards to the nail polish, I've done water marbling before. Most of the time, it works BEST if you use three (or how many ever colors you'd like to use) of the same brand of nail polish. None with glitter either. Glitter will make it clump and fall to the bottom, and you'll have to start all over again. As for the banana thing, I haven't heard of that being good for whitening teeth... I know my sister uses them for all kinds of things. Planting the peels with a new rose bush makes your roses come up very pretty, though. =D I may have to try the teeth thing out, though. I have very sensitive teeth and gums, so the whitening strips that I get from my dentist burn my gums a bit.

Oh thanks for the hint on the nail polish. Do you use any particular brand? I think some brands work better than others too. I did try one glitter and it was the worst out of them all. I have used banana peels with roses, I cut them up and dry them out for a day or so and then bury them in with the dirt. I think it's the potassium in them that helps grow the roses. I have sensitive everything, that is why I go for more natural substitutions. Let me know if you try it, if it works ok?

I have heard of many ways to whiten teeth but this is the first time I see using a banana skin. Since you sounded like you are going to give it try, do come back and share with us the results.

So far nothing has changed considerably on my teeth, maybe I'm just too old and far gone for anything to work, sigh.

Never heard of it but I hate bananas so I will not try. I have a allergic reaction. The funny thing is I can eat the green ones grown on the islands (plantains). Maybe because they are cooked, who knows :/ but good luck in your experiment :)

Although I never tried it before, I think this thing can be possible because of the nutrient that can be found in banana. People really are very innovative. Have to try this thing also. How we would know if this thing is really working.

Anything is possible, and for me, I love trying most kinds of home remedies anyways unless I feel there is problem like health risk with something I will try it and learn from the experience either way.

I have tried it, I can't use the whitening strips as I'm afraid some of the materials it's made up might flair up my colitis I have so I try different "natural" things if I come across them. Plus I like using home remedies anyways for many things instead of store bought items. She was using the inside of the peel, and just let it stay on her teeth for a few minutes afterward, it is alittle mushy feeling but oh well.

oh banana peel for white teeth??? never heard of it..but if you really want something that actually makes your teeth whiter is baking soda..after you put the tooth paste on your tooth brush, just sprinkle some baking soda and then brush your teeth.. you will notice the result immediately..happy brushing to you
