Brave and my 2 year old...kids are crazy!

My daughter turned 2 in February. Ever since she saw an ad on a movie her great aunt bought her last year she has been asking to see Brave. At home she sits through movies all the time. However, the last in theater movie we took her to (actually my son & I took her oo) was Toy Story 3. My husband and I knew she would not be scared because one of her favorite movies is Nightmare Before Christmas. So she sat still for the few minutes before the previews, all of the previews (there were a lot of them too), the Pixar short and half of the movie. Half way through she was bored (she actually said she was bored and wanted to leave lol) so I pork her in the lobby, used the bathroom (she's potty trained), wasted about 10 minutes. Went back in, she sat still for a good portion of the rest of the movie and decided with about 5 minutes left she was done. Here's the thing: she is begging to go back! She saw an ad on tv for the toys...she wants them. She owns a doll from Tangled and she wants the Merida one too. (somehow she caught Disney fever within the last 4 months and is in love with Mickey & Minnie) I don't mind spending the money, taking her to a matinee. I just don't want to waste money on something she may not watch all of and the movie wasn't that good.

When they're that little, and you know that they won't be able to sit through the movie, the best thing to do is just wait for it to come out on DVD, or find where somebody's recorded it and watch it online (that is the ONLY time I will EVER say anything good about pirated movies). At the movie theater in our town, kids under three get in free, but that doesn't mean you should bring them. (You also don't get refunds at our movie theater.) Alternatively, you could "teach" them how to sit through movies in a theater. That's what we did with my little sister. We'd all sit down with our snacks, put in a (very long, usually) movie, turn off all the lights, and pretend we were at the movies. When she was three, she was sitting through the Lord of the Rings trilogy. (With the bonus features.) The first time she sat through the whole thing without saying a word, mom knew we could take her to the movies without being a distraction. A little side note on the movie: My boyfriend's been BEGGING me to take him to see Brave for MONTHS now. I think I passed on my Disney-movie-fever to him. Lol. I love being an influence. =D

We already do that and she sits through movies all the time at home. Her 2 favroites right now are toy story and nightmare before christmas. She sits still for the entire film. However, she has to be interested in the story. That seemed to be the issue, the story just didn't keep her attention. There were a lot of flaws in the movie (especially if you are looking for a complete story line). I was rather disappointed in the movie myself.
