how to use smileys in discussions in mylot

i dont know how to implement the smileys in mylot discussion,i just type from keyboard,but they are not displayable ,why is it so,if so how to add them in mylot.please let me know?

never really thought about using emotes before n always thought you have to be over so many posts before you could use them. but now i am in lol
