So, if you read the news, and you had claimed unemployment benefits lately, be prepared the U.S. labor department might ask you back that money. Some mistakes might come from the administrative error, and majority of them are from people who already has job, and continue to file the unemployment benefits, or people defraud this system. There was one example, a guy who is in jail, but he continue to file for the unemployment insurance from the labor department. He pay $50 each time to a friend's girlfriend to file for him. Until he released from jail, and found a job, now the government ask him for for $11,000 repayment of that overpayment. So, do not even try to cheat the system, they can find a way to get your money back. The government won't imprison you if you can't pay, they just might work out a plan to get you pay it back. Like a monthly payment, or garnishment, or get part of your money from your annual tax return.

This is not surprising. There will always be people out there who will scam the systems, no matter what type of system it is.... It is such a shame but it is true. I am surprised that it is just now being enforced that you will have to pay back the government if you have committed this fraud. The guy who was in jail certainly deserves his punishment, what ever it may be.

Well i grew up with people getting government benefits and seen how even if you get it legally and still use it in a way that is not what it was meant for. So i am not surprised that with the labor department said it over paid so much i think i could be even more..It is time for the government to start overhauling its programs...there is a lot of waste that is going on and needs to be addressed.
