Cheating?

Mom and I headed out to Safeway once the heat started to really hit this morning. You see, we have no AC and the weather lately has been in the 90-100s, so we DIE in our house. Mom should be getting a cooler in about a week, but until then, we do what we can. Yesterday I went over to our next door neighbors for a "visit", just so I could sit in her air conditioned house. And at this very moment, I'm in the library enjoying the "coolth" so my mother calls it lol What measures do you take to keep cool?

Having no air conditioning unit in our house, On weekends, I minimize activity and would rather spend more time in the shower and in the yard under the leafy tree.

While shade is preferable to direct sunlight, it only does so much in 97 degree weather.

in order to make life more comfortable with no a/c here is our trick: - set the kitchen fridge and freezer to the lowest possible temp - wait till it chills for 1 hour - open both doors of your fridge - put a big floor fan in front of the open doors of your refrig - put the fan on high.. sit back and enjoy your new a/c unit!!

EmmyLu18 I have AC and this really isn't a problem for me but if my AC broke and I had to stay home, I'd soak in a cool tub .. When I take showers on hot days I always rinse with final very cool water..it feels wonderfully refreshing!!!

We have an inflatable pool and take baths once a day...but I can't take my computer into either xP lol If I could, I'd just stay in there alllll day

Thankfully I have air conditioning. Without it, it would be way to hard to stay in the house when the temperatures are almost in the 100s! You can open the windows but all you get is warm air blowing in lol. If I am not sitting at home in the air conditioning I go to the local pool with friends to cool off, but since it has been warm that is usually pack with people.

Exactly. The pool's PACKED on days like this and we don't know of any of the swimming holes because this is our first summer here. I imagine they're packed too, though. I don't know about you, but I don't like crowds.

well usually i ride around in the car because lately our AC hasn't been doing right so the car is pretty much the only thing we've got but sometime i will go to my cousins it depends on how hot it is and whether its raining or not.
