When we were at our younger ages we use to play some traditional games I can't mention particularly several of those because we have different names of that games.
When computer age started to gain popularity, until now, those traditional games of ours slowly forgotten. Sad to think that nowadays, lots of our youngsters never know those games we had played before. In my observation, several decades from now our national customs and traditions will all be gone for the next generation to come. This is very possible because majority of our youngsters these days are now being influenced by our computer online games.
I was just curious to know, have you observed this situation? Do you still love our traditional games? What did you do to keep our customs and tradition still with us in the future? Did you encourage your children to play our games before rather than tolerating online games?
What's your idea and simple ways to save our customs and tradition remains until next generation to come?

Yes that is really true, we are losing competition from these online games that the kids adore. I think it is hard to inculcate this unless the school would have this games introduce it to them since they can impose this games as part of their PE and I think it can at least preserve our traditional games with the youth of today. I think it is inevitable that one of this days we will be succumb with these hi tech games that is sprouting everywhere but we can still introduce it through education at least.

Yes and to minimize this onslaught, if the government still concern on our customs and traditions to be saved, our educators are the most of great help. Our elementary and secondary students are elements of this program because the have a lot of times in school than their homes.
You're right, games being played at PE subjects are mostly or purely our traditional games. For the students to learn and play well the individual student who would win the game should be recognized and be given highest points so others would strive to learn and practice that particular traditional games of ours.
Would that be right my friend? Do you have children or relatives who don't know our traditional games before?
Thanks for responding anyway...

Well in the school my kid attends to is a Chinese school and I remember that when August arrives they would usually have these various Filipino delicacy presented in an activity to appreciate Filipino foods. But I do not know if they are introducing these traditional games we have in their PE curriculum.
I think the government should make it part of the curriculum since I am not aware if they are imposed already. I think it is just a choice for school's if they impose this to become part of the school activities.

yes the computer has changed our way of love. Before the computer there was family night where families played board games together, now very few families still do that. We are losing our way of life and traditions here in Canada as well.

dear Martin,
Absolutely.
I haven't seen any kids playing the traditional games anymore.
Aside from computers and other gadgets, kids today are not acting like kids anymore.
I have heard a 4 yrs old having crushes, 8 years old having boyfriends and girlfriends.
At an early age they are busy with other things already.
A 10 years old knows how to use the make up kit and even know how to stroke it professionally.
What else, kids today are not interested to discover old customs and even laugh at it.
Too bad, this modernization is indeed an advantage when it comes to technology, but damaging the innocence of many.
have a great day always dear amigo

Times are a changing as they say. And with the internet and globalization, culture and traditions are at stake of being forgotten. With the way how the internet games are designed nowadays, it's really no wonder that kids prefer them over the ones they played on the streets because even adults can get addicted to them how much more the kids.

It true, those past games are now traditional, only a few of todays generation are known to it, its like computers are now the trends in gaming, a few from now, we will just find those games written and explained in the books. One way to actually preserve these games is by having them taught and played as it is should be somehow attached to a school/student curriculum, a few days to tackle a few games wont harm the academic.

That is what I am concern about. During our history subjects before we were studying some other people's culture, different customs and traditions even to those old civilization. Time comes our new generation students would have to learn it from our books but never tried to play it because they are already at the age of computer games. For those people who are not concern of what we did play before and some other customs like kissing hands of our elders - they never care also what would happen to our next generation children which might be our grand children.
Thanks anyway for responding my friend...

With the vast dvelopment of technology, traditional games were already forgotten and even not intorduced to youngsters now. Traditional games are supposed to be the early exercise of kids before bu tnow due to technology and online games, there are many kids that are being obese and overweight.
For me, it is better to encourage our kids to play traditional games like patintero, piko, tumbang preso and many more.

Oh I miss that games my friend, especially during full moon time at night. You're right my friend, there are lots of kids become obese because instead having physical games they are rather fond of playing virtual games where most the hour just sitting in front of the PC unlike our games before that we had really to run..I hope you teach your children to preserve our traditional games...
Thanks for responding my friend..
