Now Days It's Nearly Impossible To Purchase A Laptop Without A Built-in Camera.

With all the talk of big brother all around us and those that are non-believers or plain just don't care about being watched by the government, I find it a little strange that we that DO care have few choices when it comes to purchasing a laptop or other device without a built-in camera. What do you think?

I was reading about a case a while back where a US school supplied laptops to students, when at some point a student was informed of some inappropriate behaviour that was resulting in a warning for him from the school..the thing was,the student was apparently at home in his bedroom at the time! These supplied laptops had built in webcams, their purpose to the school being a means of tracking the machine in the event of it being stolen...or was it?..... It's your choice to buy a machine with or without a webcam..if you buy one with a webcam, you have the option of making use of it,buying some sticky tape and blocking it,or if you're paranoid enough and technically proficient, you can disable it and the microphone..sweet dreams!

On the other side of the coin, such computers when fitted with tracking software could, when stolen, identify themselves to the tracking company,a sort of "Here I Am!" to let the owner know where the stolen machine has ended up,and even covertly and remotely take photos of the unsuspecting crook and the surroundings to increase the chances of recovery..

It's not just laptops, cellphones would be a related issue...the first few cellphones I owned did not have cameras..(this was before the iphone,of course..not that it was first, but it's THE fashionable accessory to have...)and now I have a phone with more megapixel camera resolution than my first digital compact camera did! laptops are portable by design..minimalism is key..internet telephony is a popular use for such machines, and having to bring along a webcam and various other bits to make use of the mobile possibilities these computers can give you would be a pain..integration does make the process easier. Of course,if you're concerned about being watched and kept track of,you'd be trying to stay off grid and won't have any of this tech stuff around anyway..

I believe that it shouldnt matter what or how is looking at the way we live as long as we can live with our actions. Daily I find out things that I need help with and ask GOD to help me,so I dont cause others to fall outyside of HIS Will. Make sure we realize that we are always being watched then certain things we will not do

but laptops can be found in bedrooms, all over the house and dont you think people should have some privacy? or should every action be accounted for? and if god is always watching theres no reason anyone else needs to.

I don't think it is very likely the government will watch you through your laptops web cam.I'm not saying the government don't use laptop cameras to monitor people I don't think they do but i don't know for certain. However the government won't really have the resources to monitor every camera so if in fact they do use the cameras to spy on people it would probably be just for people like terrorist suspects.

The good thing about built in webcam is you don't have to pay extra whenever the need to use one arise.

in the past, when my friends have laptops and I dont have, their laptop did not have cameras in them and right now cameras are already built in laptops. i think it is because of the demand before that cameras have been installed. i dont like it as well so what i do is I just cover the lens or better yet dont care about it at all.

i would agree with the above, just cover the webcam if it worries you. i guess most people like built in webcams just for skype and such. perhaps you could even have the webcam removed, either from the company or at a computer repair shop? --may be possible.

hmm yes actually,we cant purchase a laptop without built in camera because normally today every one having their social network or for social network talk, they prefer video call,so company is only trying to fullfill their basic needs just, thats why.
