I think it is a case of primary osteoporosis which usually affects women after menopause due to lack of oestrogen in the body. Are you a woman? Your doctor has rightly advised you to take calcium supplement, and I suggest you to take light exercises regularly along with the calcium supplement suggested by your doctor.

DoctorDidi, yes I am a woman. I am already 54 but still having my regular periods, though when I was younger I usually have my period once or twice a year. With regards to exercise, after work I am already very tired and exhausted so I won't mind anymore exercising. But I will try to find time for this if this is one of the reasons to my situation now. Thank you.

Apart from having calcium enriched food like milk, banana etc people of osteoporosis must do exercise like jogging, walking.
They must not let their body get over weight and must not remain inactive or lazy.
Avoid all caffeine containing stuff. Eat all fruits and vegetables. Thus we can upkeep the density of bone.

Yes taking calcium can really help. You may take alternative sources of calcium. Milk can be also rich in calcium. ALso you may try this, try to dry eggshells, but be sure to sterilize it by boiling it first, dry it and crush it using food precessor or blender until powdery. You can add this to soups that you are going to eat. This will help you take in more calcium. There are also veggies rich in calcium like the moringa leaves. Hope this will help.
