It only took some stretching, and I feel fully healed now

I went for my 6-week post partum check up early this week, and I still feel a bit sore on the perinneal area. The doctor checked it and touched the stitched area, and it was quite of a pain. She said its unusual to still feel sore after 6 weeks, but it may be the reaction to the material used for the stitch. But, it should go away in the coming days or weeks. Nevertheless, she said I'm healed and can start with more active exercises. So, right away I started some dance exercises and pilates. To my surprise, the soreness in the perinneum area seem to have gone away after a day. If I had known, I should have done those streching exercises earlier. And, my husband's the happiest person with this development.

Those can take any where between 6 to 10 weeks to fully heal but the more you do things the less it hurts and the quicker they tend to heal. I had one done with my daughter I by the time I went in for my 8 week check up. My doctor never touched mine but she did look at the stitches and they where all pretty much healed up and gone. If they feel itchy then its healing. Sitting in the bath tube with some hot water for about 2 to 5 minutes helps as well to keep the area clean. When I left the hospital with my daughter they gave me a paper that explained how everything went if you had an episiotomy. I walked every where when after I had my daughter even in our tiny apartment that helped a lot.

I'm just really happy all the worst pain are gone and I can do more things now, and take care of my kids better with a stronger body. I was able to go to the mall with my little girl, alone. And that means, I just took a public transport, since I don't drive and my husband can't drive us there at that time.

A lot of women I've talked to said it hurt a lot when they where cute. I didn't even noticed my doctor doing it. She told me that she was going to. You would think a 4lb baby would be easy to push out with out having to be cut but nope her little body was a bit to big for me. I didn't even feel my doctor stick the me with needle to numb the area because of all the pressure and of course contractions. I learned really quick on how to push correctly once she cut me I think it took about 5 good pushes with hard contractions and it was over. It really didn't hurt at all for my first child. 50/50 of the women I know have said that there second labor was easier then first and some said it was more painful. It does depending on the the size of the baby, and also if they are head is up or down meaning if there head is turned to your back or if they will be looking up when they come out heads first. You wouldn't think that make such a big deal in labor but it does. One gives you more back labor pain then the other. So it'll be interesting to see how labor goes this time. I'm hoping for an easy labor like last time even if it takes the same amount of time. People always assume that if you had one child that the second labor will go quicker that doesn't always happen.

Good thing, I didn't bleed or anything to that effect. I guess the wound was already totally healed up. The doctor also told me the same thing, about expecting to have lesser tears on the succeeding deliveries. She said I had lesser cuts this time than my first, but it just felt like it was a more painful procedure because of the baby's size and time it took for the baby to come out.

I am happy for you to hear that you have fully recovered. I don't think you should do some stretching and dancing earlier. This is due to your wound may not have recovered by then. So if you had done those and the wound became worse, it will only delay your recovery. Again, it is better to be sure that the wound have recovered before doing anything that may worsen your condition.

I waited after my 6week check up before doing heavy exercises. I was too worried it would complicate the healing process.

I was happy, too - although, i wasn't really thinking much about it, just like you. There were more stuff to think and worry about as the mother. But, it sure was a good feeling, after a little over 2 months of abstinence.
