I've been walking a mile everyday for the past 4 days now and I feel great. My target is to add 10,000 steps a day in my routine. I read an article that 8,000-10,000 steps can make you lose weight. That's approximately 5 miles. I don't know if I can do that but because of health reasons, I have to. I haven't bought myself a pedometer and would like to know what's the best in the market right now. Maybe some of MyLotters here are avid runners or walkers and knows the best pedometer for this kind of activity. Hope to hear from you guys on what I can buy that will be beneficial for my goal.

I think you don't have to count if it bothers the process. All you do is walk daily what your body can afford then, you'll notice how you can do better than that day after day.

I think it is good to count the steps one day and to know the distances we walk and to walk the save distance every day. I would suggest walking to the nearby stops, etc. I think if more people start to walk more people will be healthy and also they can save money of the petrol and diesel.

I love to walk. I am a huge fan of walking. There was a time when I walked with my youngest brother around our place and it took us about a whole hour for the round trip. Although, I don't have any idea about the exact numbers, I know very well that walking as far as you can is a great exercise already. It could serve as a very good substitute for several gym workouts, as far as I am concerned. Not only could you spare yourself from gym membership, but walking could also spare you from extra change spent on fares for those who are used to commute. I am not very much keen on actually counting every step I take. But I might do it, someday. :) Maybe I would also refer to this post then, about buying the apparatus used for counting the steps you take when walking. :)

I think it is good thing to count the steps while walking. I think this will help us to do better in losing weight. I have only read in a book named Around the world in 80 days where the hero counted the steps. I have not tried to count the steps while walking. I will certainly will try to count the steps while walking and I also want to lose weight as lately I have been gaining weight and is having less exercise in life.

Wow, five miles a day to make you lose weight. To a certain extent that seems like a lot to do on a daily basis and I would imagine that could also be something that would be hard on the feet and knees. That said, I do believe that trying to walk more instead of being as sedentary as they are. With that said, I also think that picking up other physical activities and making changes in your diet would also be effective in helping a person to lose weight.
