Winnie the Pooh is a Dangerous Cartoon

I used to have a different schedule on Saturday morning and while I was eating breakfast the local news would end and cartoons would come on; I didn't bother to change the channel. For a while the one that came on was Winnie the Pooh. I know that many cartoons feature violence of one sort or another such as appears in Roadrunner and the Coyote but in those it is pretty clear even to children that the danger is impossible and since it involves such outrageous and only cartoon characters, it is something not to be immolated. But Winnie the Pooh has a real human looking boy who interacts with Winnie and thus makes it easier for a child to relate and to think they can do what the characters in the show do. There was one that really bugged me. In it they had the human kid and later Winnie blowing up balloons and then the balloons would act like they had helium in them instead of just air. They showed Winnie using one of the balloons, note it was just one, that had been filled with air and then jumping off a cliff and floating off. First it only had air so it would fall to the ground and second even if it had helium, one would not be enough to lift fat Winnie into the air when he jumped off the cliff. I have to wonder how many kids jumped out a second story window after seeing that with a balloon filled with air and fell to get hurt. The parents of those kids probably had no idea why the kid how thought to do it.

Yeah well I worry more about my kids playing the X-box since the age of four ha ha. I wish they would have been more interested in something mild like pooh. I never had kids like that, the kind that are so disconnected with reality enough to do something like that. And when they were toddlers there was only balloons in the house on birthdays. I think back to when I was a kid, I watched all the Bugs bunny, tom and Jerry, etc. And so did my husband. It never occurred to me or my husband to try any of those things ever. Maybe people are keeping their kids in a fantasy world a little too long by keeping them sheltered and in a bubble of sorts. I know the type.

The thing with Bugs Bunny, etc. is that they are all cartoon characters and harder for a child to related to. Also, the things they did where more obviously violent or dangerous as opposed to something like the balloon that I am talking about which looks safe.

I don't know, I remember playing with balloons when I was a kid. I got the idea pretty quick that the thing wouldn't support me. I guess it depends on the age. I would say any kid over the age of four or five should have sense enough to know not to jump out of a window with a balloon, I did. Sometimes I look at other peoples kids and see what they think and do and wonder what goes on in their heads and how it happened ha ha. And before that they shouldn't have balloons or should be watched as balloons are dangerous to kids and animals the way it is.

You are kidding, right? My children and grandchildren were raised watching Winnie. They loved it, and they never tried to jump out of a window. I would be more worried about kids playing all the war games on video and thinking its ok to shoot someone. Or cartoons like Ed, Ed, and Eddie where its ok to fight and do bad stuff. Winnie the Pooh is harmless.

There are many cartoons that deliver subtle messages that can indeed be quite dangerous. Unfortunately most cartoons have these aspects in someway or another. That is why it is important that parents are near kids while they are watching cartoons so that if kids have any questions troubling them they can clarify them and if there is anything wrong they can turn the programme off or switch channels. Parents need to be present and quick minded.

well all i can say is that it is not only winnie the pooh might be dangerous but all the cartoon character especially characters that shows violence...when that time comes, the mother roles in parenting will be enhanced. That's why if you have noticed on tv..parental guidance is advised is spoken before showing the program.
