Who are you?

Have you ever asked yourself who am I really? I can say that I'm pose123 but isn't that too simple? We can answer by saying that we are some one's son, daughter, brother, sister, mother or father etc. but is that who we are in reality? Some use their job or profession - I'm a teacher, doctor, lawyer, pipe fitter, iron worker and so on, but does answer the question to your satisfaction? Maybe it does for some, but certainly not for everyone. Maybe you believe that life continues after this body dies, if so who are you then? If John Smith dies than John Smith is dead, because that was the name given to that person when he was born into this world. Let's suppose that this person discovers that he really isn't dead at all but still very much alive - but who is he? He is no longer John Smith, that was the name given to him here, that body that people called John Smith is dead- so who is he? Who are you? Who will you be when this body dies and you discover that YOU are not dead after all?

Hi Pose: A name, a profession, our family, what we do are some parts of our personality but to give a complete answer of who are you we have to understand that what a person really is it's even more complex. Our vision, values, the things that has mar us as persons and that has made us exactly how we are are also some things that we have to mention. It's a very complex answer even if it seems to be something simple. ALVARO

I feel that names are not important. When we incarnate we come into this world and get named by someone else. If we knew who we were at that time it would make no difference because our minds do not retain names from the past. Our real selves are part of God, so we must be children of God! If God had given us names we would remember, and would always use the same name.

Hi barehugs, Thanks for sharing. Maybe you are right and names are not important. Perhaps too, our higher self which remembers all our incarnations and experiences does have a name.I guess the important thing to remember is that we are a part of God. Blessings.

Just who do you think you are, anyway? Any way might suggest that you are a person of flexibility that you are open to finding new ways to do something or perhaps you go against authority? I like the north American Indian’s way of creating names. In the movie ‘dancing with wolves” with Kevin Costner for example a name was not just a name that was picked out of a hat. It had some meaning and was applied to the individual that it belonged to. Come to think about the German Smitt’s family were historically involved with a certain occupation and had a reputation to go along with the name. Like father like son?
