I am renting as well right now. We hope to be able to buy in a few years, prices around here just aren't low enough again to be able to buy.

Good luck with your plans to buy a house. I hope the prices come down for you when you are ready to buy. I don't think the prices here will go down much, they just seem to be going up and up.

Well I am in an unusual deal... My husband and I did buy our house and we are paying the bank loan on it so although we are not owners yet, we will be one day... Also, our home is built on rental land... So we pay rent on the land and the owners provide the tennis courts, clubhouses, playgrounds, swimming pools, cable, internet service and phone lines and gas lines and electricity, and trash pick up for us... Our home is a manufactured home that was built in a factory and transfered to the property... It is a 20 year old home, but it is in great shape and we have decorated it inside and out with a landscaped yard and lots of plants and trees...

I am staying in my own house now. I used to be renting a room (I was sharing the whole apartment unit with my friends) 8 years back, when I start working in Penang. The first apartment unit I was living is very small in size, only 750 feet square. I was living in the master room with another house mate who is also my course mate. After staying there for 1 year, we decided to move out. Later on, I moved into another apartment and stayed there for one year with colleagues. After that I start buying new house in Pekaka and had been staying there for 6 years.

Hi magilives, I have been staying with my hubby in his own house since I had married. It is a one story bungalow with compound around where I can plant fruit trees, vegetable and flowers. It is in a nice location which has shops and wet market not far away. For my own I have bought an apartment in another state where my son working. The apartment is rented so as to cover the maintenance and monthly installment of repayment.

Wow your bungalow sounds wonderful. We have too much shade in our back yard to be able to grow fruit and vegetables. We did try a vege garden but it didn't do very well. Lucky you having an investment apartment. I would like to one day own my own house plus some investment properties.

Hello dear magillives. I used to rent a house before 2002 as I did not have one of my own, but after that I got one of mine and we have been living in our new house ever since. We feel good and happy with that. Here in China more and more people are trying to buy their own houses and it is a must for us because if we do not buy it earliler, who knows how high the price of house would go. When I bought my house, it was much cheaper than the price for a house now, which is now triple price. Everything is on the rise and the real estate is absolutely not an exception. I wish that you would soon have your own house as well. Good luck to you.

Wow, it's lucky you bought your house when you did. The prices of houses here in Australia are also rising which is why it is so difficult to be able to own your own home.

Yes you are in an unusual deal. I haven't ever thought of owning a house that is on rented land. At least you get some added benefits with the tennis courts etc. I too would need to get a bank loan to buy a house but at the moment the loan repayments would be greater than what I pay in rent so it is not really worth it.

i rented in london and in ireland before finally buying a little council house cheap. we sold it after four years and made a good profit which we used to build a house in the country.i,m glad we bought the house to start with as i always hated handing out £70 a week rent.at least when my mortgage is finished the house is ours.renting you end up with nothing.

I am living in a rented room now but hopefully I'll be able to transfer soon to the house which I and my husband have bought. The house is still under construction, so for the mean time I'm staying at my rented room with my son.
