Lol. Way back 2002 i took this course in Ateneo - the reason? i do not know why.lol. it was like i just stood at the admissions, filled up the form and put BS Ac in it. Probably because i thought it was the one that will satisfy my parents, my cousin is a CPA here in the PHilippines and accredited in the US too, i might be like him and my cousin, female this time is also the same. So i signed up for this, they say people who take this is good in math. Well you are wrong, it only uses basic arithmetic - subtraction and addition!
but why was it hard for me? probably because my mind was not focused to it. I only took it for one year - not because i failed but i was not happy in it. In fact i did not even fail it, i was even in the Dean's lister yet i had to force myself to go to those boring accounting classes with terror teachers.
I took another course that made me happy and graduated.
But then why am i in a financial institution that makes me do accounting again? lol. i was asked to go inside a meeting today and it talked all about accounting, to financial entries to adjusting, to accrued expenses to debit that, credit this, adjust that, adjust this...and close that and close this at the end of the fiscal year.... and let me not start with the auditing.
It boggles the mind as to why i was called, i am in the marketing department and i love it there as i get to talk to people..but i was called in the accounting meeting as i know the accounting position is FREE and is up for grabs. Hmmmm should i go for it?
nah. i would rather not.
i'll loose my sanity.

I think if you did well but decided it was boring for you several years ago, it would still be boring to you now! hahaha..
I was also attracted to the thought of becoming a CPA Lawyer, but the dream or the imagination drifted when I went to college and found that most of the accounting students are really boring! hahahaha..
I didn't pursue the course but guess what!? I am teaching Financial Accounting and Financial Management to Accounting students part-time!? hahahaha.. it's weird really. But, I find myself enjoying the subject now that I'm teaching rather than the time when I was studying it.
Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

A friend of my mine, who heads the department of Accountancy in a university also offered me a teaching job, teaching accounting 101 and 102, fundamental accounting and 102 corporations, partnership and stocks i guess not sure.. but she offered me to teach those part time too next sem, which i still declined as i am not sure i could teach well.. but would be quite nice too as it will be another source of income right? what is it like teaching rather than be on the student's chair?1 person likes this

If you find it now another source of income, why not try to take it. May be this time that are already the teacher and not any more the student, you can find it not anymore boring. And you can help the students not to have the course as boring as what you think before....

hi,
that subject really make your head ache, because even i don't had that subject before i still experienced that when we have a family business, and because in a business should have an accountant but of course you need to pay for that,so instead to hire i volunteered to do that task and its really hard for me because i don't have knowledge,i only searched through internet.

I am a graduate of Management Accounting. But it was not my choice. When I graduated high school, I really did not know what course to take. I am more into arts, but I know everybody will disagree if I choose any art courses.
Most of my close high school friends are from another section. They all failed in CSAT exam because they unfortunately got a terror proctor then. So they cannot enroll in Ateneo. They decided to take a medical course (PT is rampant at that time). So I went with them, we took the entrance exam, and we all passed. But my aunt who is a professor of another medical college told me that their school is better. And she can help me if I enrol there. So I was also forced to take exam and passed. Then another friend of mine wanted to take Management course in Ateneo. I always wanted to be in Ateneo so I again went with her. Again, my aunt is also a professor in Ateneo (she's a chemist) and told me to take Management Accounting instead. It was a new course by that time. She told me it will be better because I could gain Accounting knowledge. She took my records and transferred me to MA. So I ended up facing Management Accounting course in my 4 college years. Fortunately, I still passed and graduated even though I went through some rough times.
Now that I am working, I realized that I am not in any point handling any Accounting works (except for the basic addition, subtraction but this is Math). I work as an Import/Export Documentations Officer. I deal with Customs, Shipping Lines, Truckers, Ports Operations, which needs no Accounting. So I can say my Accounting knowledge is useless. It is even very rusty and very depreciated now. Lol. And there are many Accounting graduates I know who are not working as Accountants. So we were just wasting our time and energy and headaches studying Accounting in the past. lol.

I know what you mean, i had several accounting subjects and i barely use it now..till well yesterday when i had to think about it all over again and it is harder as i am really rusty on these stuff..
I had economics as major for the next course but i am also not using any of it! Which is yes a waste but then there is not big demand for economics too. lol. right now, i am in the marketing department which was never in my college courses too... weird. but then things are learned..
