Hello Friends :) New problem arises in my desktop computer. Now its keep getting hangs after few minutes of work.. Let me introduce my old desktop computer to you. It is quite old, almost 11 years old. But it is still healthy and fast. And working properly with all program. No tablets and treatment done recently. So I completely formatted it. But I noticed that this problem is still on. I know about few reasons for computer hang. And that are checking computer fan if it is working or not. and cooling down the system properly.. We also need to clear it so it can work properly... I did that, and fan is just working fine. Another reason can be hard disk fault.. Now I just hope my HARD DISK or any other hardware is not abut to DEAD.. Do you know any other treatment so that I can check them too and check if it works for this problem or not.. I mean before going for new stuffs (hardware) I would like to check all treatments. What can be other reasons?

Hi AKP- As you know very well that I am totally a novice while it comes to computer related problems. I have a set idea about these things- you know I have a friend who is always there to purchase my old gadgets and offers me some discount on new ones. I have no gadget that is more than two years old, so never faced such problems. May be you can check its circuits or power supply to reach to root of its problem.

Hi Suny That's good. Like that way you can have good and latest gadgets in good shape.. Yes mine desktop is too old, and now it is time to replace it, but as you know I have recently purchased laptop , I have to wait for new desktop, or my dad have to. I have already look in all circuits that I can see. But it all looks okay to me.. There is too much dirt inside it, and I guess that's the problem. I need some air blower to clean all those stuffs. I have clean that fan and other things with cloth but its not that greatly done. So tomorrow I am borrowing air blower from my friend, hope it will work well.

Hi bro First check the Hardware - specially the Hard Disk - use some non-windows utility and do a thorough checkdisk thing. The one in windows does not locate bad sectors. (Does your Hard disk make sounds during its use?) If that is okay, then blame the poor old RAM. And replace it. Things should be fine now. And if that doesnt work either, get me the to and fro tickets - I will do the investigation for fee (only take care to provide me good food)

Well, in todays pcs, we dont have any floppy drive. so I would not suggest you that. Instead, you can use SpinRite (http://www.grc.com/sr/spinrite.htm) or even SystemRescueCd (http://sysresccd.org/SystemRescueCd_Homepage). The seond one can run from USB too and so no booting of windows is needed - meaning you have more control

Ha ha Okay Courier is on... Bro.. I have already checked up those things.. Yes haven't scan the hard disk yet. Non windows utility, what should I use than.. suggest. About RAM, I don't think there is any problem with it, as I have never face problem like this before. This low RAM was working fine for me so far. Well, I have also done few dissection in CPU, and found lots of dust in it.. Look like my computer is playing lot in dust.. So I guess I need to clean it and than check it, this might be also problem for this thing.

I am not a computer tech, but since you have it formatted, I guess it's the HD. I lost my files with my old pc due to this- so since then whenever my old pc starts to hang I call my tech friend to check and saved files for back up with external hard drive.

Hi Hope same problem is not with my computer.. In CPU it was having too much dust, and just now I have cleaned it all with hair drier.. Now hope this trick will work, as I have read somewhere that if its fan and other things get more dust then this problem can raise.. Hope so.

If after reformatted and the problem persists, it means that hardware are most likely the problem. You can always do a disk check to check for any bad sector in the hard drive.

Hi Even I thinks the same... I don't think it is something related to any software or virus. Well, I am going to scan my hard disk for those bad sector tonight, let's see if it works out... Other thing I am concerning is there is too much dust inside the CPU.. I tried to clean it with cloth, but its not good enough.. So that dust can be problem behind all this..I have to get something like air blower tomorrow to clean all those completely. Hope problem is not major, like having problem in hard disk or mother board.

Hi VP Yes it worked well for all these time.. Actually I have just formatted whole hard disk just yesterday because of same problem, and this problem is still on.. So I don't think it is something related to virus.. May be my hard disk is at end, or something related.. It is too much dirt inside the CPU, and on its fan, I tried to clean it with Cloth, but its not enough... so will try out with air blower. Hope this problem is related with this thing, and it will solve the problem.

Wish you to solve this problem soon, i think the problem is from your hard disk, better to change it. Try your maximum to clean all the dust with the air blower

hi, 1.First check enough ram is there to perform all of your queries 2.Since your hard disk age more than 11 years some problems may occurs. Please do scan disk check to get any problems regarding harddisk bad sectors. 3.Do deframentation 4.Make a complete scan to check for virus. 5.If your ram size is not comaptable try to increase the virtual memory size. If you do lot of times hard disk format it will reduce the performance of harddisk.

Hi Thanks for some good suggestion. I guess ram is not the problem, as I am having this much ram in my desktop since starting and never faced such problem. Yes RAM is little lower but not because of that computer is getting hang/stuck. About virus, I have mentioned that just yesterday I have completely format my computer, so I don't think i am having. Yes defragmentation can do the work, and I am going to try out tonight. Hope it will solve the problem, and I will not have to go for new harddisk or mother board.

Hi Hatley I guess my problem is also related with dust, hope so. I mean there was too much dust inside cpu and around the fan. I just cleaned all of them with hair drier, hope it will work. Currently it is working fine, but hope it will not hang again.. Let me remain it on for few more time.

Is it anti virus ?! If yes, then I guess it is not related with virus.. I mean I have formatted whole hard disk couple of days before, so it can not be reason.. CPU having lots of dust inside it, and I have cleaned it all with hair drier just now, hope it will solved the problem as too much dust can be one of the reason.
